Has anyone here...

Has anyone here tried out the ESP LTD Gus 600?

I've always loved the Random Star shape since '88 or so, always wanted one. The Gus G model seems like great value. Just wondering if anyone's actually tried one.

I haven't tried one, but I have heard one. It sounds like many other guitars like strats, les pauls, etc. I think it's an overall great guitar. If you ever listen to Firewind and/or Dream Evil (older stuff) you'll hear one.

Thanks dude. Yeah, I'm familiar with both bands, I was more wondering about how it plays. I know it has a finished neck, which I am totally not a fan of, but I have always loved the shape and could never justify paying out for a Charvel Star. From what I'm aware, the LTD's are good quality and the Gus G model looks like a bargain.

Re: Has anyone here...

I can tell you from owning an ESP LTD M-200FM they play very well, even with the finished neck. I was quite unsure about how it would play when I went to pick it up at my local shop. Man I was blown away with it, the feel was great and the neck was damn fast! The only thing I can suggest is, if you can, try out an other ESP LTD model with a finshed neck on it to see if you like it. They all play pretty much the same, and have the same feel. It's the fastest playing guitar I own, and I'd by another one in a heartbeat if I had the money. Good luck!

Re: Has anyone here...

I recently picked up an EC-1000 and its damned near replaced my RG 2550 as my main axe. I love the bastard. I thought I too would hate living with a finished neck, but its just as easy to play as the Ibanez (though due to its shape, upper fret access is a bit restricted comparitively).

Go to a shop and try one first. I chose the EC-1000 over the eclipse because I need 24 frets. Plus I couldn't feel any real difference between the two (search for my thread I made about it a while ago). I like it so much I'm considering the one in Amber with the Duncans too.

Plus it is a sexy beast. I love the binding and inlays.
