Has Fender done something new?

Has Fender done something new to justify increasing the price of the American Deluxe guitars from around $1000 up to over $1600 since last year? In an economy where prices and demand are down, you would think they would be cheaper. The only other people who seem to think this way is the postal service! I don't want to start another price increase rant thread but I thought they were a hard sell at $1099 now at $1699 no way I'll take a prestige, thanks!

With the imports and the currency conversion rates and all I can undestand but these are made in San Diego by machines in a factory staffed mostly by illegal immagrants. It couldn't cost Fender more than a couple hundred bucks per unit to make these things. Even those new San Dimas Charvels are a better deal now... by far!

Re: Has Fender done something new?

I agree with cid's attitude towards whiney threads about price increases, but this Fender thing really takes the cake. Yes, prices went up more or less across the board, but the American Strats went up about twenty-five percent in one year. (!?$*%!?!!!!?!!!!)

I know man, but this is flagrant. It must be their way of pushing the cheaper imports on people and making these seem more exclusive. I dunno, I thought if they started using a plek, or making the neck pockets tighter with good string alignment maybe there could be some way to excuse the increase that I didn't know about.

Re: Has Fender done something new?

I was in the market for a new strat, and with the increase I looked only at used ones. I was able to get a nice deal on a pretty much "under the bed" Jeff Beck strat. With the older prices I would have considered a new one, but the increase to over $2000 for this model (with no changes or improvements) seemed too high to me. I'm sure others have similar stories. Luckily, the used Fender prices seem to be holding steady in a reasonable range.

Re: Has Fender done something new?

There was a whole thread about it here months ago. Fender raised all prices 20-25% across the board.

Re: Has Fender done something new?

Isn't this the third thread about Fender's price increase? Who cares, if it's too expensive for you don't buy one, or cry about it on Fender's site. There is almost as much whining about Fender here as there is Jem crushes. Fender is just doing what they feel they need to do, if the market can't handle it, prices will come down. A Strat is still way cheaper than a Jem, which isn't really all that much different, a floating trem and a couple of humbuckers isnt worth $1000 price difference.

We'd probably have some monster guitar players here if they put half as much time into music as they did bitching about guitar prices.

We get it. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Fender's prices went up.

This is an amazing thing..Deans are easily some of the best shred-worthy guitars goin.Kinda one dimensional , but nothing beats it for metal. A guitar that cost 1999.99 american now cost 699.99..whacked!
