Parkers are great, super actually, although if you wanna do metal you' probably be better with a Classic or a Mojo due to the
Mahogany body (Classic) or all Mahogany (Mojo) - however, as far as I am aware, there isn't currently a US hardtail Parker unless you want to get a Parker Singlecut Mojo, which sorta defeats the purpose if you ask me.
My latest guitar is a Fly Classic, and it really is the nicest guitar around in terms of comfort and playability - because they effectively weigh nothing, you can stand up and play one for hours without consulting with your physiotherapist. While I don't play metal, I don't think I'd have huge problems coaxing serious metal tone out of this baby.
Another thing to bear in mind with Parker Flys is that almost every part of the guitar, including the pickups, are custom made for the Fly, and so you just can't chop and change like you would with an RG - normal Dimarzios or Duncans DO NOT FIT IN A FLY! and the electronics are active (to drive the piezos)
Having said all that - try one - please! the trem can be locked dead easily (the Fly is designed to do that) and the piezos sound great - they feel wonderful into the bargain. I assume you are talking US made Fly here - while the P Series are very good, they are much more conventional in comparison to the Fly.
Cheers, and happy guitar hunting,
David
