Help Me Chosing!!!!

IBZ RGT42DXBP + Case M100C!!
LTD KH-202 + Case!!!
Fender Malmsteen + tweed case!!!

I know that the three guitars are diferent for stile hardware, etc, etc... but my cousin will get one for me in the USA and I want to get the best for me. I play in a Metallica cover band called Vertigo but in my house I play a lot of Malmsteen and Steve Vai songs. I allready have a RG550LTD, a Yamaha Pacifica, and a Korean Squier with scallop fretboard...Here, in Argentina, the LTD its imposible to get and the Ibanez and Fender are overpriced!!!

If your cousin is buying, I would get the Malmsteen strat as it costs the most here in the states.

Re: Help Me Chosing!!!!

First off, what style do you play? As for the KH, you will never come close to Hammet's sound because:

1. The 202 is the lowest end KH model.
2. It's cheaply made.
3. Parts are of sub-quality.
4. They don't come with real EMG's.
5. If the trem isn't set up properly , tuning will be a bitch.

Your 550 is much better than the 202. The grade of Basswood is better. It has top quality parts. It's made in Japan etc. If you want to have closer KH setup. You can always rewire it to a H-H config. The RG is a very versatile guitar. I'd say go for the YJM, 'cause everyone needs a Strat.

Hmmm.....

The RG550LTD should be covering your "GIG" needs right? So, get the YJM (Sonic blue mabye?) and have fun playing Malmsteen around the house.

Re: Help Me Chosing!!!!

The Malmsteen strat is worth the most of those guitars. Keep in mind that it is only a 21 fretter though. At $1,399 I think it's a ripoff too. For that price range the RG42 is too cheap, you should be looking at the RGT220 ($1445), RG2550 ($875) or RG2570 ($869) or RGA121 ($895).

For $1400 you can get a nice used VWH or a DBK (with some money left to boot). OR a nice high end RG. OR an M-II with EMG's. OR even a used KH-2.

Re: Help Me Chosing!!!!

You'd be looking at about $2000 for a new one, but it would be the best $2000 you could ever spend.

No, the best 2000 bucks ever spent would be if he has Rich send the VWH to his cousin, and then have his cousing bring it down here...
