What in the wide world of sports are "tremelo tone springs"? I just stumbled into a page for Big Boss in Japan and ran across something about them.

yeah they sound interesting because it said something about harmonic overtones and that is exactly why I like evo pickups

Interesting. So ESP is pretty much a boutique guitar builder of sorts over there.

One of these days, I want to own an ESP Custom Shop model of my own specs, by hook or crook.

Re: how does esp fair against ibanez?

It took me awhile to get there as I went thru a big google search and since I can't read Japanese, I just hit one of the random links on their (Big Boss) page. I believe it might have actually taken me to the ESP Japan page.

Found it but I can't read anything on the page:

Re: how does esp fair against ibanez?

Here it is translated, I don't know how much sense it still makes, since these things always do literal translations (which is often very funny on Ishbashi descriptions, by the way):

http://translate.google.com/translat...ial%26hs%3Dldf

Here's another translated page on them:

http://translate.google.com/translat...ial%26hs%3Dldf

I think this explains it all:

"It means that those where that is possible are this spring. Feeling at rest, purchase."

Re: how does esp fair against ibanez?

That page is on the ESP main site.

Well. these springs a a new development from the ESP Custom Lab. The idea behind it is allow floating trem users get more tone by using more springs to transfer energy to the body. These are made of a special composite metal which is softer so that 4-5 springs feel like 2-3 springs.

I don't know how good this is, but I'll have to pickup a few packs of these the next time I'm over in Japan(which hopefully is sooner than later once I get enough time off work to fly over for a couple of days). Really interested in trying four of these springs with the ESP Arming Adjuster (which I don't see on the website anymore..). At the same time I'm wondering if it will actually make that much of a difference..hmm... must try and test...

Interesting. Thanks for the info and let us know if you get some and if you notice any change.

Sounds like they are just weaker springs. hmmmmmm....

That's what I'm thinking.. Maybe it's really just a marketing ploy to sell older worn out springs... But ESP's Custom Lab has always been pretty spot on with stuff, so I'll have to try 'em out before I dismiss 'em.

I might try 4 or 5 in mine(don't use tremsetter) but do the springs really help the tone?

Re: how does esp fair against ibanez?

Among many other guitars, I own a Ltd MH-1000 and a RG1570, and often play a friends Esp Horizon fr.

I find them to be quite comparable when it comes to feel/action and sound.
When it comes to the finish though, the Esp is a shade in front of the other two (which are still very good).
