I have an MII, which is neck through and EMGs, and it sounds great and is probably my best playing guitar.

I think the ESP line have some great guitars, on par with Ibanez Prestige stuff.

I would say that it's like this:
MIJ Prestige=Edwards
MIJ Signature Models=ESP Standard series

The MII is in a different league than the 770. In my opinion by far the better guitar. ESP in general (NOT LTD) are really really nice.

Re: how does esp fair against ibanez?

serious, ESP (not ltd) could kick an ibanez any day in terms of feel and craftmanship, it just seems like a perfect piece of art that is flawless.
even Edwards (high end models) play better than a pretidge, and they use lot better parts and woods
havent had a chance to try a jcustom yet so i dont know how they compare to the ESP

Re: how does esp fair against ibanez?

I've owned a bunch of Ibanez's and ESP's. King Knall got it pretty much right except I should add the higher end series.

Ibanez Prestige = ESP Edwards
Ibanez Signature = ESP Standard
Ibanez J-Custom = ESP Original Series (both Japan only)

I've owned an ESP Original Series MII from Japan it it's simply the best f'n guitar I've ever played. I just had to part with it because it was just too "metal" looking for what I was playing at the time. I honestly would buy an ESP over an Ibanez. The parts, construction and attention to detail on the Original Series ESP's are simply top notch(all built to order actually)

Note: ESP Standard Series and Original Series models are all made in the custom shop except the Original Series ones are built to order.

so, even in the catalog the ESP original series , say a MII CTM, only available in red ferrari, blue and black, but i could order different color?
or.. do you mean they are not ' ex-stock' , so I have to make a pre order, based on what available finish in catalog, then wait for delivery?

So, what about the LTD's? I know some of the low end LTD's are no better than the low end Schecters, but what about the higher end stuff, like the EC-1000?

I asked this very question recently and even had the chance to try one as well as an ESP eclipse. The HIGH END LTD's (such as the EC-1000) are very very good quality. SOME of the lower end LTDs aren't very good, but no worse than say an RG 350DX etc.

Have a look at the thread here -

Cheers.

I've played a few ESP's recently (big shake up in my guitar collection) that I've considered.

I think they're a re great guitars, I'd be happy to use one live.
