I blame the media for GAS

Every year at namm theres hot new products, its like christmas all over again. More items to add to my exponentially growing list of things I dont need but want anyways.
Or the magazines, doings page spreads of guitars, and pedals, amps.
I cant get these images out of my head, I just want more gear! The dimarzio ads! Everytime I look at my guitar I wonder what it would sound like with a sweet new pickup, or an amp read a review about.

had the worst GAS last year. 2 Les Pauls, a 7620 and a Seymour stacked p90 for my junior. I've taken some medicine and I think i'm doing ok now.

I don't know who to blame for it, I guess it's just me, because as I progress as a player I'm always looking for something else,or when I go through phases like a blues phase, I would like a Stratocaster, Classic rock phase, I want a Les Paul, 80's RacerX phase, I want a Ibanez, Metal phase I want a Jackson.....hehe you get my point.

Man I have bad gas right now, I want a Jackson Randy Rhoads, RG20TH and a half stack,not that I can use it at all right now, I just want a half stack

I would blame nobody for GAS but myself. Those adds and reviews are made to make anything sound like the best thing since sliced bread. And yet I fall for it anyway.
And yet, on the flipside of that, we have forums and word of mouth that will tell you the exact opposite, that "x" brand is garbage or that guitars made in certain countries are always and forever giant pieces of crap. In the end the only thing you can do is try something out first and go from there.
Just so that I don't seem like I'm lecturing, I will admit that I will probably be the first person to ignore my own advice.
There's that old saying, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
