I can't believe I bought a Tele.......

I just picked up a tele...
http://www.gbase.com/gear/fender-tel...995-holoflake#

Never owned a tele before but it's a beauty and super easy to play. This is a 'Nashville" Custom Shop-don't know what pickups are in there but they sound much fuller and rounder than I expected from a tele.
The neck is a thin 'C' shape with taller 6105 dunlop fretwire. The finish on the fingerboard and neck looks like nitro-not poly. The tuners are graduated heights on the headstock.
It weighs in at 8.4 LBS. which probably adds to the tone. I've played super light teles and that twangy sound is not my thing.

The finish is really different and you can't see it in the pix - but it's a black-based metalflake with tiny glitter of different colors- as you turn in in the light it changes to different hues.
Fender didn't make alot in this finish because it was difficult to do with extra steps-they also upcharged for it.
The Custom Shop Certification is signed by John Page (who started the CS) and dated.
I took it in a multi-guitar deal with a guy in Florida and it is almost dead-mint -looks like it's never been played.

Thought I'd share my first TELECASTER with everyone!

Nice snag.
I don't understand the title though. Are you ashamed to be playing one of the most popular guitars in the world?

I wouldn't mind a Tele someday, but it would have to have a 12" neck. I can't stand the smaller radius.

Grats! It looks like a decent deal. SSS too.

I recently bought a tele too, and although I've heard it before, I finally know that a tele can cover all bases. I think it might be my new main guitar, leaving my beloved Jem in its case... http://sportsfiske.nu/foto/arkiv/34351/85613_s.jpg

Re: I can't believe I bought a Tele.......

I've always loved strats - have 5 of em, but never realy liked teles- weak pickups, no Floyd....I've only played them in stores for a few minutes at a time. Last Friday at rehearsal I tried it with the band and even though it doesn't have the features I normally need it suprised me and sounded OK with the band.

This one has the strat pickup configuration-maybe that's why. Anyway, it sounds great for some of the songs we play like early Zep, Stones, Beatles, Badfinger......

Knowing how I am, the honeymoon will not last and I'll probably be looking to blow it out for more Marshall amps ;^)

If it doesnt have the mojo you need and you dont get attached to it, then there is nothing wrong with palming it off for another Marshall...... but is it a keeper as an investment??

Nothing wrong with a nice Tele!

I wanted a "classic" sounding Tele, but with a modern neck. I took a '52 reissue, and added a 16" radius maple neck.

Now I keep thinking I want one of those new Squire J5 teles.

I can never decide whether to go with a '52 Reissue or get a Yamaha Mike Stern, so I don't have one Yours looks great though, congrats and good luck with her!

It's freaking weird that the Squier Sig looks more like his custom tele than the Fender sig does.
