I got a sweet deal on a strat.

Its a Green burst(photo burst?) MIJ 57 reissue! I beleive it was made in 91-92. It has aged pickups and tone nobs, a super sweet maple fretboard, and the pickups sound like.... a strat. Do any of you guys know what pickups this thing has? I haven't been able to find any info on this guitars electronics anywhere.
Anyways I paid 300 for it with the case. It has a few dings here and there, but it plays great(still needs to be set up) and it sounds really good.

That's very pretty. The picture looks like a very dark green on a flamed maple. If so, I'm jealous!!!

Bogus,
That is a fake flame top. Fender named it FotoFinish. Not bad though, they look pretty good. Should be either a basswood or poplar body. I had one that was pretty nice. Made very well. The pickups are just your basic japanese made Strat copy. A lot of people don't like the pickups or the pots, those usually get replaced pretty quick. Enjoy!!!!!

Yeah it's a picture that is stretched over the wood. Overall it still looks really nice. I love this guitar.. plays so nicely.

For those in the market for a cheap used strat, check out the G&L Legacy. They go cheap on ebay all day and are made in the USA by Leo Fender's last company. My $450 (used) Legacy plays every bit as nice as my $1000 Fender American Deluxe strat...

thats a mighty bold statement my friend
in all my searching ive never found a strat style guitar that was as nice as the american deluxe. MAYBE the legacy IF it came in that transparent green, but alas lol honestly i was never really pleased with the stock tones i got out of any G&L. everyone i played was too thin and/or sharp sounding. but to each his own, ive talked to many who laugh at fender while coveting thier G&L's thats a topic for another thread, however.

congrats on the MIJ reissue by the way. some will argue this, but i think the MIJ strats are SWEET. Ive played quite a handful and i dont remember ever picking one up that i was disappointed with. good luck with it! if you feel like its TOO nice to play, let me know and ill give you my mailing address
