Yup. Here is my pride & joy.
2003 HD-28VS.
Only 41 were made that year - confirmed by the folks at Nazerath, PA.
with LOA.

I am not worthy of this instrument, but she's all mine anyway.
Life is great.

Sweet, Jemaholic. I've tried a couple at a
local music store
. They are great acoustic guitars.

Re: I got the chance to try a Martin D-41
No offense but I have not been a Martin fan. I have got to play an early 60s D35 with Brazilian rosewood and a D28 with Brazilian rosewood and new D45s... I never like the necks on them and the sound is not me.
Like with Taylors - I heard some kid with a Taylor playing and it sounded great! I told him it sounded great and that's a tone I would like he offered to let me play it, but it did not work for me.
My father has a 81 or 83 Guild F50 I really like. Gibson J200s are nice, and so are the J45s. But the best acoustic I have ever played was probably a $3000 something Goodall. Full toned and easy to play!

The other day I got a chance to play one of the steel topped martins. The thing was amazingly resonant it really shocked me. I was duely impressed and will definitely purchase one of these in the near future.

I tried out a whole wall of Martins, Gibsons and Taylors at my "Local" GC and the Martin HD-28V smoked them all, by far. It may not be the most visually stunning guitar, but it sang like an angel and resonated like the devil.

I am a HUGE Martin fan! I only have one thought, a 2000 000-28EC. I love the full sound from such a small body!

Re: I got the chance to try a Martin D-41
Good to hear from Martin fans. I had a 1969 D28 and a 1970 D35 a few years back, when nobody questioned that Martin was the dream machine. True, they were nice.
Now there's so many good acoustics, and waaaaay too many people knocking Martin. I've ended up with 2 Gibsons and a Charvel A/E but wish I had those Martins still. I'll always defend 'em, even though they're not worshipped like before. My two cents.

For my personal taste I think alot of them are way overpriced, add that to the fact that alot of them , the necks were completely unadjustable. Other than that I think EQ wise alot of them also are merely loud and way off balance at least eq speaking. Still you cant out play a martin for sheer power in an acoustic jam.

Re: I got the chance to try a Martin D-41
I'll definitely pick up another Martin in the future. I've had a couple of 000-28ECs which are GREAT little guitars. My favorite was a D-45, but I found myself holding back too much when playing it at gigs. I had a '67 Brazillian D-28 for years that was a great guitar too. Can't think of any Martins I've had that I haven't loved!
