Re: I hate fender guitar shaped guitars...
I badly miss my MIJ Strat. Olympic White, maple neck, it was a beauty. If it's still around, it's nearly 20 years old now and probably plays and sounds great.
Unfortunately, it was stolen from my house 15 years ago, so I'll never know. Damn you, Leeds 6 burglars.
PS - Top quality trolling, OP. Respect due.

Re: I hate fender guitar shaped guitars...
I don't hate on any type of guitar. When I first started playing my ideal guitar was a Fender Mustang, I didn't like the pointy ones as I thought they all looked the same...and I listened to U2
Now I own a BC Rich and a Dean Z and listen to Pantera. I can understand why people like different guitars because I've been through phases of liking different ones myself...different strokes for different folks.

Les Pauls are far more cumbersome in my opinion then any fender.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
I had one that I bought in 1986, MIJ Olypmic White with maple. Did yours have the "System One" double locking trem? It was a kind of Floyd copy made by Kayler for Fender.
It had a behind the nut lock at the headstock and rollers on the saddles even though it was a pivot trem, not a cam-operated trem like the traditional Kaylers.
When the ex-wife and I split up I left all my stuff behind. She moved, claimed she left it at the old apartment and when I went to get my stuff it was all gone. I think she sold it all, but I have no proof. :-(
That was 14 years ago now, but I'm not bitter towards the (censored), (censored), (CENSORED)!

Standard vintage trem on mine - I kept it blocked most of the time.
I didn't properly appreciate the guitar at the time - I was getting in to Satriani and Vai so I spent a lot of time drooling over Ibanez catalogues and wishing for more frets and some humbuckers.
MarkE goes off to look at Strat prices...

They are great guitars!! the black one has the best neck I have ever touched on a strat... plus both my parents were born in 1955!! Yeah, that guitar plays itself..... in fact I can hear it now playing Layla!!!

Re: I hate fender guitar shaped guitars...
I LOVE odd shaped guitars of all kinds...Sadly though I am "too" comfortable on strat styled guitars to really get used to the oddball shapes... They do look cool though!
For example...Albert King with the Flying V...AWESOME!!

The trem I had stayed in tune really well. You couldn't be really Vai-olent with it, but for dives and subtle vibrato it worked great. It could pull up the G string a whole half step! ;-)
I miss those guitars and would give anything to have them back, but I don't have the scratch to buy any of the used ones on the market, so, as the French say, "Suck is life", or something like that. :-D

Thanks jim777. I don't know that any of mk's threads haven't been deliberately confrontational.

My thoughts exactly. I took a quick look back through his comments... A majority of them were negative.

The thing I am not comfortable with on Fenders is the radius...But again I would be more comfortable with that than say a Dean razorback or something...
