I have to settle for a SQUIER!

Im being forced to sell my CHARVEL MODEL 4, and FENDER HEARTFIELD ELAN II
dont ask for me to sell them to you, i already have a buyer,
my dad is making me because i lost the whammy bar, and he's afraid something bads gonna happen to it.

so...

im gonna buy a squier, its the only guitar i can find for 150 bucks....
all i can afford,
and im going to put new pickups in it sooner or later,
so it'll actually sound good.
so...
any suggestions on good pickups, or cheap guitars

Re: I have to settle for a SQUIER!

I'd say go for a Gio over a Squier, as every Squier I've ever seen or heard about (Barring one that my friend's friend had that was a special anniversary model or something) was utter crap. Like, real bad. Just slightly better than wallmart guitar bad.

No hyperboole.

Honestly though with cheap guitars they're all pretty much crap. Much better than back in the day but just find one where the neck fits you right and go with it.

But if you're only getting $150 for those two guitars I'd recommend you find another buyer.

Edit:
On the Gio's make sure it's a GRG170 or higher. The Real low end Gios (With the white pickguards) are easily worse the the Squiers and right down with the wallmart guitars.

sucks you gotta "settle" for one of those. just be glad you're in a position to get a guitar at all. id take a sqier over those gios anyday. good luck with it. why not save up some more money and get something you will like? im sure your dad will appreciate the fact that you saved up your very own money.

If you are going to buy a squier then put new pickups in it, why not just wait until you can afford a nicer guitar. Decent pickups will cost at least as much as the guitar, and if you lose that whammy bar you won't get your money back out of the squier

Couldn't you just find a new whammy bar somewhere, and keep the other guitars?

Re: I have to settle for a SQUIER!

Get a GIO Ibanez instead. The sign of the good quality GIOs is the ones with NO pickguard.

Re: I have to settle for a SQUIER!

I've got an Ibanez GIO, a GAX30. Bought it for my son but he doesn't play it much as he's got a thing for drums. But as a guitar it's great fun, I get an immense urge to put stickers on it and thrash out Pistols and Green Day. It's not the best quality obviously, but it's a very long way from a bad guitar, plays like butter tbh. Put new tuners and pups in it and it would be a great guitar.

Re: I have to settle for a SQUIER!

What the hell, you have to sell an Elan II cause you lost the bar? that sounds at least stupid...

I sold an Elan II cause the oportunity was way too good to pass, but thats one underrated and AWESOME guitar to be selling for such a stupid reason...

I'll be about the 3rd or 4th person to ask about this part, but can you explain that more ?

Re: I have to settle for a SQUIER!

For real, come back here and grace us with the totally "grownup" reason as to why your dad thinks you have to sell the guitars because you lost the bars....

Jimmy

P.S.: Call the manufacturers and order new bars for them. It won't cost you more than 30 bucks altogether.
