Identify: BC Rich Warlock

I am trying to identify a Warlock. We all know that neck plates aren't always a good indicator of the origina of a guitar as they can easily be swapped.

So, this Warlock has "NJ Series" on the headstock (which indicates to me that this is a foreign model, I think) and the neck plate has an LA address and US serial number.

Does anyone have a clue?

NJ means it is made in Korea. Low price axe.

That's what I thought. This thing is a mongrel, a frankenstrat all the way around, even less than a Korean model......

Not sure, but i think there´s a lower quality series made in Korea and then comes the NJ series. The NJ is american but not of a good quality. The good ones are (i´m trying to remind, maybe a name is wrong)in this order, standard, custom, deluxe and supreme.

I think that the Platinums are the modern day cheapies, followed by the NJ series.

The NJ models were originaly produced in Japan, from 84-86 then shifted to the cort factory in korea.

there were also the US production series, these were US assembled korean kits.

of course the US custom models were always done in California, then there was a whacky time with the company in the 89 to mid 90's when alot of wierd stuff happened (rico's break), weather or not what is on Ed Roman'$ website is true is anyones guess.

That period in the late 80's early 90's is where the company was owned by 'Class Axe' or some such.. You'll find a lot of guitars from this period with "Licensed by" in small print before the "B.C.Rich" on the headstock..

The USA ones are great guitars though. I have an NJ warlock and I have a USA warlock. I love the USA model. The USA one says, quite bluntly MADE IN USA on the headstock, and the NJ says "Licensed by BC RICH". The NJ's kinda suck, especially when I'm talking to Jem players, but the Platinum series REALLY sucks. Cool looking guitars though. I always wanted one when I was younger.

Hey it seems some people here really know there stuff about older BC Rich guitars. So I have an 80s Warlock (serial based on what I can see is 1984)...its an NJ Japanese model. It is actually very high quality workmanship. (I own to Les Paul Customs, one of them a 71 as well as a few high end strats...like the plus deluxe made in the late 80s as well as 1 Pre CBS so I am not comparing it to garbage guitars). It has a bridge on it I have never seen...and its not the Kahler that I always see on these. So if someone really knows whats up with these PLEASE contact me, the bridge has a broken saddle and I want to fix it =). Thanks in advance for any help!

yeah the BC rich serials are wonky as hell lol, all i know is NJ stands for Nagoya, Japan, other than that ive no idea really :P

Pictures are needed to properly identify. NJ series from the 80's is not the NJ series from today.

A lot of the import guitars during the Class Axe period havd neckplates that simply say BC Rich and give a Los Angeles address.. but don't say "made in usa".. kinda like the Kramers that ESP made during the "American Series" years or when IMC owned Jackson/Charvel.. the Charvels that were being produced in Japan all had neckplates that simply had a Charvel logo and a Dallas/Fort Worth Texas address.. but never actually said "made in USA" anywhere either.. and NO Charvels were ever produced in any Forth Worth, Texas facility.
