Re: Identify this flying V!!
Looks like the 2001 model that's in my living room right now. Ask for the number on it. I forget what year it is but the V's made before a certain year were not mass produced so the quality is better. I'll go look in my roomie's case.
I got the number so I'll do a search for it but yours looks to be a hell of a lot newer. What's the price on it?

Re: Identify this flying V!!
Looks like a worn brown Flying V faded, if it is it's nothing special but they are nice and inexpensive. They were under $600 new. Check Gibsons website you can date it by the serial number.
MWN, where did you hear that Vs werent mass produced before a certain year? The 67 RI has been a standard
production model
for years.

Re: Identify this flying V!!
That's exactly what it is. Just looks a hell of a lot better than the one out there. I'd say either it's rather new or well taken care of. Looks totally legit though. The serial number should be going vertical on the headstock.

How much under $600? The Faded SG usually goes for between $450-$550, the price for either was the same new.

Re: Identify this flying V!!
The early models had crescent moon inlays, so that's one of the later ones, if that helps.

Re: Identify this flying V!!
The first and fifth number in the serial number will date it. IE 056725321 would be a 2002 model the sixed would be the plant it was manufactured. The last numbers would be the day it was made in that year, and I think the numbers between the the year is the number in production of that day.
0 = 2000
567 = it's number in thats days production
2 = 2002
5 = Nashville ?
321 = the 321'st day in the year 2002

They might have taken it off, the color is probably discontinued. Musician's Friend does have a worn brown one pictured. Not available anymore, but that is because they only have one color left, it seems.

They stopped the faded brown a few years ago. I know they have a 3 pickups faded white one now.
