Re: I'll show you mine if you show me yours (Strats)

Yeah, I did actually! It's a genuine American strat with the bonus of Kinsman pups. It was on sale at a forum and not shifting because of the hideous bright yellow colour. I had already stated that I could never own a strat in such a horrible colour, but the price kept dropping and it got down to a real bargain so I snapped it up.

I was going to do some sort of respray, but it just looked so cool that I waxed it and left it!

Re: I'll show you mine if you show me yours (Strats)

Heres a lil update... I got this japanese black strat a while ago, cleaned it up and took pics not too long ago...

Even if many of these are basswood, this one seems to be alder, i guess if i ever strip it ill know for sure... Got it already upgraded with the USA mint green guard and USA bridge. Nice improvement over the stock one (i had a couple). Now ive put a set of Duncan stacks in there

Its pretty beat up, but what i love about it is that the previous owner had it refretted in a way that the whole neck feels great, you can bend any string anywhere a lot and it doesnt choke! That and they gave the neck a nice vintagey tint:

And here she is as she was till yesterday, with some dimarzios i was trying out:

Next up, a 1 ply black guard to make it look more Gilmourish

My latest "Strats" ... a G&L Legacy and an S500.

Legacy

S500

The only difference is the pickups and the model name on the headstock. The Legacy has alnico Vs' with a more traditional "Strat" tone. The S500 has G&Ls MFDs which have much more output and less 60 cycle hum.

You could say that I like strats ...

Here's my 89/90-ish HM Strat. Pretty nice shape, great sound...love playing it. Had it since 2000 with wrong wammy bar in it (a bit wobbly, so I put some electrical tape on it to keep it steady). Finally picked up the correct whammy for the Kahler a week ago...don't know why I waited so long! Now it's all stock as far as I know. I realize these Strats don't rate up there with the classic style Strats (I just don't like pickguards), but it's my baby...and it's made in the good ol' USA.

These are thumbnails...you can click 'em for a larger image.

Is the lower cutaway deeper than on a normal Strat? It looks like it might be . . .

1992 USA made with original Floyd Rose original from factory, not an after market mod. Actually don't have it yet but can't wait for it to arrive. I needed something a little more laid back looking since all my guitars have flowers, swirls, pointy headstocks and funny shaped bodies (V's, Explorers).

My Strat 7 is Corvette Red with Lindy Fralin pups and modded wiring - 1=mid, 2=neck+mid, 3=neck, 4=neck+bridge, 5=bridge. Tone controls are wired to the neck and bridge ala Eric Johnson.

And a little peek at one of my RG1527's.
