Re: intel fender

Now, if you could download tabs and have the correct fingering show up on the LCD fretboard, that be cool. It'd make my half-@$$ed playing even lazier than it is right now.

It looks like a Marketing gimmick to me. If we were any closer to April I'd swear it was actually a prank!

Re: intel fender
If done correctly this could be awesome... unfortunately from the photo it doesn't look like it's done correctly.
Think about software possibilities... a guitar with built in digital effects, tuner, metronome, drum machine, soft synths, digital recording. As a studio tool this could be awesome. Even better, imagine an OLED fretboard that can display chord and scale fingerings on the fretboard in realtime. As a studio or learning tool this could be awesome.
Unfortunately this looks like it has none of those things.
Hmmm.... maybe I should start writing a patent application for that OLED fretboard idea

Re: intel fender
I saw this in Guitarist magazine not so long ago.
I don't think that they think it'd take off, it's just introducing a new concept I reckon. I guess if you need to search for a tab in the middle of a gig (when you're doing a cover) it'd be good...
Or maybe if you could record stuff online to another computer with no latency (not saying that'd be possible), in the comfort of your own home...you could guest on someone else's album moments after receiving an email from them!
Quite silly, though

well, most intels fun on, oh crap, WINDOWS. how about a guitar that crashes and get viruses. and steals you credit card number? lol. well, i guess it would be neat to have garageband on your guitar, to record on the fly.
