I've fallen in love again! - yeap another trip to the guitar

I went to the guitar store today, greeting me was a New old stock ibanez FGM! Yellowish Green, sort of DSY colour....shark tooth inlays....so sick it's beautiful. The condition was perfect....as if it was the date of issue and these babies just got shipped! Plastic still on the trem cavity cover! Woohoo!

Plugged it in and it sounded like heaven...very spongy FP like tone but with more dynamics and definition. I've never really liked the S type body, but this one was seriously heaven! Love the neck...LOVE IT!

I WANT IT SOOOO BAD!

Anyone else here got any FGMs?

A real killer one was the Quilted maple one ibanez released....nice guitar, came in blue as well.

Chris.

I' ve seen the FGM a lot of times and i am very intrigued by it. Unfortunately it is one of the least known models. Go to the levytukku site for more pictures, it looks rather good.

I would like some opinions on it as well, pls

How is the Frank Gambale model any different/better than a regular S-series (with better pickups, of course) or a Prestige S model?

The FGM models are killer guitars! *When I was managing a local music store, I'd sold 3 of them when they first came out. *The unique thing about them is that the pickups are almost fluch mounted, and the trem is mounted deeper into the body. *All of this was done to accomodate Frank Gambale's sweep picking technique. *VERY sleek guitars, and paper thin bodies as well. *Light, comfortable and FAST! *I believe the middle and neck pickups are DiMarzio's and the bridge is an IBZ USA made by DiMarzio. *Original colors were Sky Blue, Desert Sun Yellow (same as the 777DY), Pink (a salmon color) and black. *They later added a metallic green and then started doing the quilted tops. *Awesome guitars, and superior to any other S-series, in my opinion at least

Well, actually the body was too thin. I couldn't even hold it, not comfortable at all. A strange guitar for a great player. Not my cup of tea.
