That price is worthy of a JEM 7VWH with ebony fretboard. That is way too expensive

Wait a minute, this a near vintage Jackson we're talking about here. Jems are nice and all but they don't make Jacksons like they used to so the older ones are becoming more and more valuable.

Metal Tiger, do you know if it's a botl-on or neck thru (Soloist)? What's the finish on it?

Re: Jackson 1988 custom

I agree with Toneboy. I've got a 1986 Jackson Custom Soloist (San Dimas era) and it's amazing. After 1986, the Jackson factory moved to Ontario. They are rare and great to play.

Check the Serial Number on the guitar (if it's a neck thru, the S/N is marked on the last fret):

Re: Jackson 1988 custom

Its a custom soloist neckthru with ebony fretboard, Οriginal Schaller lock tremolo, black hardware , the hall guitar is made from mahogany, original Jackson hardcase, 1single coil and 1 hum, the guy change the pups with dunkan distortion and dimarzio chopper but he will give me and the originals, he says that the guitar also had a boost system and he has take it off and he will give to me too, custom paint (its like a painting) I have photos but i dont know how to upload them...

Re: Jackson 1988 custom

Every Jackson made in the '80's was a USA made custom one off. They didn't have prebuilt lines of guitars until the Japanese Professionals came out in 1990; up until then there were types of guitars you could custom order (Soloist, Kelly, RR, etc), that's it. Every one was custom ordered and custom built. At any rate, an entirely mahogany Soloist is a custom guitar, no matter when it was made.
I'd like to see pics as well, and the 80's guitars with factory graphics are certainly more collector worthy then your typical ebony board VWH.

If you have the opportunity to purchase an 88 Jackson, then go for it man!

If you don't have the cash then sell your family. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Re: Jackson 1988 custom

I have an 86 San Dimas custom soloist Jackson too mine is a black and yellow crackle on the top with binding so its a flat top body which is pretty rare and a solid brown back and neck.Ebony board no fret inlays,Kahler trem.Mahogony body with a 3 piece maple neck thru.
I also has an odd mid boost system.
I have been offered close to two grand for it but its such a killer guitar I can't let it go.
BTW if the "made in the USA" is under the Jackson logo and not to the right it is a San Dimas era Jackson.
Jackson and Charvels are my thing. And yes the prices are starting to go up again on the SD era soloists.

Re: Jackson 1988 custom

ANY late 80's early early 90's Jackson is worth having. If it's in mint condition I'd say go for it.

Here are my 2 Jacksons. I bought the 90 Fusion for $650 off eSlay in 03
