Jackson SL3

Hi there!
What you guys think about the soloist 3?? I'm thinking of getting one and I've heard very good things about it. Is the trem any good??? It's suppost to be a jackson-floyd rose which might be a sign of crappyness....(sorry you ibanez guys but no lopro edge will ever be as good as a original floyd...my opinion).

You refer to us "Ibanez guys" as being a separate group from you. Why are you here if you don't like Ibanez guitars? This is the Ibanez JEM/Universe website you know.

i beg to differ. I have owned plenty of high quality USA made guitars sporting original Floyd Rose guitars and the new Edge Pro tremolo is a BETTER tremolo.

Better ergonomics and profile.

You're looking at a SL3, which has the JT580 tremolo I believe. Identical to a Floyd Rose, but using lesser workmanship. I own two USA JAckson Soloists (SL1, and SL2H) and I much prefer the Edge Pro tremolo. Now that the Floyd patents are up, the new Edge Pro's feature better engineering that was under patent before.

So dont make a statement saying the Edge will never be as good as a Floyd, especially when you yourself are loooking at buying a Japanese guitar with an import tremolo cast somewhere in Asia or wherever.

A freind of mine just bought an SL3. Beauty of an axe... the JT580LP trem isn't bad. It's no OFR and definately no Edge but it's a solid trem once setup correctly. It's the same trem as the Lo-TRS II, which if setup right is not as bad as some claim.

The SL3 comes from the factory with a Duncan JB and two HotRails. IIRC it's one of the very few import Jacksons with "real" pups. (ie not "Duncan Designed" or EMG-HZ)

All in all a well made guitar.

The best "original" Floyd Rose I ve tried (and have in a couple of guitars) is the Schaller.

I ve had a Floyd Rose Pro on a heartfield I used to own.

None of them comes even close to the Edge, or the Lo Pro edge. This tremolos feel better, perform better and look better.

The SL3 is a good guitar, and the Jackson tremolo JT580 (I had one in a PC3) is not bad. Just as any "original" kind Floyd Rose it doesnt even come close to an Edge or a Lo Pro Edge.

The only tremolo that, to me, feels and performs better than a Lo Pro or an Edge is..... guess what? Another Ibanez design, the ZR.

My favorite feel is actually a long block OFR on a non-recessed body. But then - that's mostly what I learned on (go figure). But I like certain aspects about the body routing, the Edge, etc. so that it's pretty much a tossup to me.

Not the 580, though. IMO, get an OFR or a 590.
