John P model guitars - what next for the specs
hiya,
i was just wondering what you guys thought about something that has been puzzling me - what do you reckon ibanez will do with the JPM specs?
do you reckon that they will release a new RG model with the exact same specs but no paint job, or will they be able to continue making the JPM models even though John P doesn't endorse them any more?
cheers guys

The JPM is discontinued.
I don't see them doing anything with the JPM specs at this time other than keep churning out RGs, some of which are better guitars (ie. prestige, double edge.).
Lets face facts... *the JPM sold (or didn't sell) primarily based on the '
john petrucci
' name and signature paint job... glen

I think Ibanez will abandon the JPM specs completely, simple as that.
I reckon the nearest you'll be able to get is the RG 3120 which is now available in transparent red as well as the blue/green colour

Hmmm...good question. *Considering Rob Balducci's guitar bodies use the JPM route, I think they'll keep that template around. *
HUGE HINT: *They could do a signature model with Rob. *Call it the "BAL-7". *Everyone remember that nice thick
quilted maple
top? *Yummy...
As far as the Viper neck, I have no clue. *Maybe they'll be trimmed down for
Prestige guitars
or turned into Wizard necks.
I do know that Ibanez busted their buns for those kooky 3-way switches on the JPM's. *Rob's the only other endorsee using those switches (as far as I know). *I'm sure they have a truckload of them for replacement in JPM models.

I'll take a few of those extra switches they have lying around. *I bought an extra one a while ago ($30), but I could use a few more.
I like my P3 and Im not ashamed to say so.
I went into the
local music store
and was asking about a price on the 3120 and the guy behind the counter goes "why dont you take that damn Pattitucci off me man, I'll give you a great deal"
So he did, and so I did.

who knows-we may see the same specs pop up on a later model RG (minus the nappy graphics). *Kinda like EB/MM made the Axis out of the old EVH design.

More importantly, I want to know how the new bridge stacks up to an Edge.

hope i didn't offend you by calling them nappy. of course all opinions are just that-opinion, personal feelings. *I myself never liked the picasso graphics, but when they came out in camo, I made fun of them. *My dad and I lovingly call them the R-G-I-Joke. *they play ok (string spacing's too tight for these big hands) but the graphics completely turn me off. *Like a Corvette offered only Beige with pink strips.
