Just Finished A New Build

Been wanting to tackle one of these for a while and a few weeks back i decided to go for it. There are a *few* things I do not like about it, with the neck being one of them, but all in all I do not think it turned out too badly.

The body was cut and sanded by hand. No CNC machine. The neck was a paddle neck that I cut to look more like an Ibanez since I couldn't make it look like a Performance headstock. I gutted my Kramer Baretta for the Floyd, pot, knob and locking nut. Wilkinson black locking turners and a Duncan Detonator for a pickup. The pickup WILL be changed just as soon as I get off my butt and go get a new one. The painting was done by hand as well (finished the paint last night).

The action is a little high for my liking, but I haven't sat down to do a proper setup yet.

Re: Just Finished A New Build

looks nice. good work.

that nut location will give you some serious headaches. can you fit an actual RG neck on the body down the road?

is that a real Floyd?

Re: Just Finished A New Build

The Floyd is the one I took from my Kramer Baretta, so, it's a Kramer "Licensed by ..." Floyd. On this neck, that was the only place I could put a nut, which is one of the reasons I am not too thrilled with the neck. I do plan on putting an RG neck on it here soon.

Re: Just Finished A New Build

cool. thanks.

i just saw the placement of the nut and know from my Charvel Model 4 (from '88 ) i have has a similar problem where the lock nut sits behind the nut and keeps it from returning to pitch 100%. i'd like to have a luthier cut the nut for a new lock nut someday so the strings go directly into the lock.

One on the back of the body on the top horn, one on the bottom of the body.

Nice job, man. I actually, personally, would've gona with a Performance Guitars-style headstock, but, hey, that's what makes the world go 'round, right? Good work!
