Just got a PG owned guitar

It's not an Ibanez PG... it's this thing:

The case is small, looks like I could be carrying around a small shotgun, but that orange is BRIGHT. Anyway, I was at Cowtown Guitars here in Vegas (some of you may have read what I said in the JS forum) yesterday to drop off a Jem to have set up before I ship it out. I noticed a guitar hanging on the wall which is the one pictured... and turns out that it was owned by Paul Gilbert, as are a few others in the shop. I didn't quite believe the guy right away, even though some of the guitars have little notes on the price tags from Paul stating something about the guitar, such as one of them being pictured with him on the cover of "Young Guitar."

I read this today:

Of course, I didn't read it until AFTER I got home, but cool none the less. This guitar used to be some other kind of guitar, and it was pretty much torn apart and turned into what it is now. The name "Gilbert" on the headstock was just a coincidence, which in turn is why it was purchased for him as a gift in the first place. The pickups were wound by Dimarzio... however, they aren't the greatest sounding things in the world (I had to plug it in, c'mon). Anyway, I thought it was cool as hell, just some freakish little shape and where it came from. I'm probably going to display it, but if Paul comes back to Vegas I'd love to have it signed.

That's cool.

Did you read the bottom of Paul's post? Apparently he is thinning his collection out after succesfully recording all 100 of his guitars on the track "I like to rock". So now he is thinning out to move to LA, and to make money

That's cool, Knightmeir!

If anyone is interested, just phone or e-mail Mark for a complete list of what is still available.

You live in Vegas too? I think I know which one you're talking about... the strap button at the top is snapped off : (

Paul mentioned the Gilbert guitar in a Guitar Player interview yeaaaaaaaaaaars ago. It was the first issue I ever got, with Robert Smith on the cover. It had a photo of him standing in front of part of his guitar collection. I still have it somewhere at my parents' place but that's five hours from where I live. Next time I go back I'll scan it and see if your guitar is in the pic.
