Well, it's a bit tough to tell, since we don't know anything about the Squier. What year? Pickups? I had a mexi-strat at the same time I bought this Squier Strat I now have, and I personally found MY two to be comparible. I actually kept the Squier, and sold off the Mexi, cause I like the tone of the Squier, better. Only thing I WILL say about the Mexi: It's standard six-screw trem has been the ONLY one of it's kind that I've ever been able ti dive on, and be very confident that it would still be in tune, when I returned it to rest. No so with the Squier (mostly due to the nut), but, then again, I RARELY use those trems, anyway. I save my Ibanez for that.

well the mexican strats are pretty good instruments. But even with the new pups i am not sure they are worth the squier and the cash. You can pick up a relatively new strat for around 300 bones and the pups at aroud 60 a peice. I would say hold off on the deal.
