Laguna Guitars

WOW. Finally, finally finally. There are soooo many overpriced junk guitars out there, and finally a company comes out with amazing guitars, with amazing features, at amazing prices. The guy at Guitar center told me that they are exclusive to Guitar Center, but anyway here are some details.
Even the low low end models have Auto Trim/Locking Tuners, Wilkinson Bridges and amazing Alnico Pick ups. They play and sound great, more of a strat neck feel than Ibanez, but they are awesome. They aren't on the GC site yet, but hopefully they will be soon. For anyone with a GC near them, you should go check them out. Most of the finishes were natural/stain sort of thing, headstock is kinda goofy looking too, but they do play and sound really great. At the GC near me, they put them on the rack right out of the box, not tuned, or anything, so beware of the typical guitar center crappiness there. Hope you all enjoy!
Jake
PS> I'd still take a nice Ibanez over them

But i'll reserve judgement until I've seen them.

Re: Laguna Guitars

Ya, I agree Eggy, the headstocks are kinda lame, and actually, the guitar at that "shop" was kinda lame too, but I was pretty psyched about the ones I played. I wonder though, if they are catering to the strat crowd, or the Ibanez crowd, or maybe trying to find their own niche?

Re: Laguna Guitars

WOW! What a funny coincidence! They seem to be made by the guys at The Guitar Shoppe in Laguna Beach, CA...The shop where I get my guitars set up!

Nice guys, great workers, but somewhat overpriced for the work...100 bucks for a Floyd setup, but thats Southern California for you...

Re: Laguna Guitars

People actually pay to get a Floyd set up? They actually can't use a screwdriver... but they can play a guitar?

Re: Laguna Guitars

Yes it's true I suck at setting up guitars.

Well I've never paid for a floyd setup, it's too expensive. I did get some of my guitars set up there though about a year ago.

Re: Laguna Guitars

Is the reason why you suck at setting up guitars because you haven't set up many guitars? With the information available online these days I see no reason why a complete guitar n00b shouldn't be able to set up a Floyd, at least. Fair enough, fret levelling and stuff isn't gonna come easy, but basic setup is so easy. How do you even go wrong!? If the adjustments are not correct, keep trying. That's all there is to setting up a Floyd!

Re: Laguna Guitars

Yea I haven't set up many, and to be honest, since I got my RG550, it has been the only guitar I play, and it is already perfectly set up for me.

Re: Laguna Guitars

Played one of these today, and wow! I was VERY impressed. I enjoyed playing it compared to the similar Tom Anderson Drop Top right next to it. Nice action, excellent maple top, offset small dot inlays, Wilkinson bridge, etc...for $499. If I were looking for a guitar under $500, this would be it. Apparently they are made by former Fender vice president, Keith Brawley, who used to run Brawley Guitars at the beginning of the century.

That'll be the LE422. Unfortunately the maple top is only a veneer, but I honestly wouldn't expect a "real" top for $499. It does, however, have a swamp ash body.
