Les Paul Axecess anyone?
I saw this earlier today and think it looks alright.

Has anyone had a go yet? What are your thoughts?

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
I saw it yesterday and it's amazing how changing just the bridge can change the look of the guitar.
But I have always thought about making a Gibson with a
Floyd Rose
style bridge.

I'm interested, it looks good, but the price puts me off. Like many Gibson offerings.

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
I've played one. It's amazing. Fret access is great, the bridge stays in tune, the body is very comfortable. Its tone is a bit thinner than a regular Paul, but it still sounds great. If I could, I would definitely buy one.

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
Why not just give it a 24 fret vine/ebony board and a monkey grip, you're half way there already.
Personally. I think it's a good idea. It'll broaden the LP market. But, hardcore LP guys probably wont be all that interested. I suspect the market will be middle age guys with good jobs looking to relive their youth and playing in garage bands. Or rich kids learning to play. I don't think we'll see many of these on tour.
However, I thing the neck joint should be common on all LP's from now on.

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
The axcess is effectively the guitar that Alex Lifeson has been playing on tour. Not a bad endorsement!
I'm currently trying to resist the temptation to buy one.

$3500? J.H.C.! I think it's a great concept, but for that money, I'll go buy two J-Customs or an old hardtail LP and a trip to Vegas.

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
This is the production variation of the Neil Schon signature Gibby. Basically, if the Schon wasn't ever made, then it is unlikely this guitar would have ever come into existence. If you want a LP style guitar without the Gibby $$$, get the Carvin CS model with a Floyd. It doesn't have the more scooped heel of the Axxess, but it does have a very good heel with excellent upper fret access. Check it out in this thread on the Carvin Forum.

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
you can get a 24 fret les paul from either epiphone or esp, or you can got to rondo music and get an agile les paul copy which have floyds and 24 fret necks with extra wood cutaway so you can reach them easy

Re: Les Paul Axecess anyone?
Like almost every Gibson, more money than what it's worth. Too many companies doing it better for less. I have a Gibson I got on a huge deal used but would not buy a new one.
