Re: Long Neck Tenon

What do you think elcid, buy a Japanese copy with the long neck tenon or a Gibson without one?

Keeping in mind I'm probably the biggest Gibson Fan-Boy on Jemsite, so my opinion is severely biased, I would take the Gibson every time. As nice as the Japanese copies may be, it still isn't a Les Paul.

I was actually thinking about an SG. It's the first guitar that I ever wanted.

Re: Long Neck Tenon

I was looking at an SG GT, Supreme and 61 RI for awhile. I went with the 61RI. I had a faded for about 2 years, for the money it was a great guitar but the 61 RI is just a great feeling guitar, and it came with 57 Classics, which are right up there with the Duncan JB, and WCR pickups on my list.

The GT was the 490/498 combo which I cant stand and I'm not sure about the Supreme.

Re: Long Neck Tenon

I was looking at the Faded. If they get any cheaper I don't think I'll be able to say no. Plus, I like the plain brown, without burst. However, it has the 490's and I think I would like the 57's better. I shooting for "Woman tone".

BTW, has anyone seen the new SG with 3 single coil blade pups. It's an abomination.

Re: Long Neck Tenon

While I wouldnt buy the 3 single coil SG, I dont think it's that bad.
I think the whole "Guitar of The Week" thing is pretty cool, and they wont all be winners. The new GoTW, is an Autumnburst Supreme with no inlays.

I'm a little upset that I bought my 61RI, and then Gibson did a GoTW 61RI in black that looked killer.

Anyway for the price of a faded you cant go wrong, I bought one, threw a set of Duncan 59s in it and was happy as a pig in **** with it. The only reason I sold it was to get my 61 RI.

Let me know if you decide to pull the trigger on it, I may be able to hook you up with a 57 Classic pretty cheap.

Re: Long Neck Tenon

Are you trying to win a convert over to your side?
I think I might actually start saving up for the Faded. The price is just too good to pass by. Now if only I could play like Clapton or Iommi...

Just cut off 2 fingers, playing like Iommi is easy, writing like him is a different story.

Re: Long Neck Tenon

I'll have to wait and see if I get this job first.

Psst...don't tell anyone, but I'll have to sell my Ibanez to get it.

Re: Long Neck Tenon

In case you dont get to play a faded first, the necks on them are pretty fat. They play real well, but it's a big neck.

Don't worry, I sold my mint 550 to fund a Les Paul purchase.
