Looking for a guitar with a fat neck, and flat fingerboard
Exactly what the thread says. I love the fretboard on my RG2550, but love the fatness of the neck on my strat. Are there production guitars with a fatter neck than a strat, but with a flat fretboard?

Re: Looking for a guitar with a fat neck, and flat fingerboard
Martins ...... oops, I guess you want an
electric guitar
........
PRS necks, particularly the Wide/Fat shape feel absolutely great, at least to me,
fingerboard radius
is 10", which might be too curved for you (I think Ibanez use a 16" radius - same as Martin!)

Re: Looking for a guitar with a fat neck, and flat fingerboard
Well the RG2550 that I've got has a
fretboard radius
of 430 mm (about 16"). I guess jacksons do have a slightly bigger neck, but they've all got compound radius fretboards these days. I'll just have to try a few out is all. And I've never tried the N4 - but I probably should.

EVH EBMM. you could also get a custom made strat with your specs for the fatness and radius.

Re: Looking for a guitar with a fat neck, and flat fingerboard
Yeah I'm looking to get a
warmoth neck
for a project guitar - I'll look at the options they've got. I'm thinking a jackson headstock with a maple board, no inlays and maybe a boat profile. I'm also thinking a flat 16" radius would be nice.

Re: Looking for a guitar with a fat neck, and flat fingerboard
I dunno how much this helps you... but...
I just recently got an ESP M-II Deluxe that was built in the
custom shop
(I'm assuming they used to make these things in the custom shop kinda like the nice ESP Japan models) and the fretboard is super flat, but the neck is maybe even a little thicker than my Strat. It's entirely comfortable... I dunno where you can find one of these, but... maybe, MAYBE, if you had 1800 and wanted mine, I'd think about it. It blows any Jackson out of the water. But, since I like mine, I suggest looking for one else where... haha. I'm not sure what the new M-II's necks are like, but I heard the quality has suffered on their new production line.
In any case, Warmoth definitely makes some nice necks... or you could just pick up an Ibanez SZ320 or something, which have thick necks, flat fretboards and practically no weight to their bodies.

The ESP/LTD
Kirk Hammett
and Jeff Hanneman series both have wide necks with flat boards.

Re: Looking for a guitar with a fat neck, and flat fingerboard
The Ibanez SC620 Classic has quite a chunky neck but a flattish board
You can pick them up pretty reasonable too
Or a PRS!
