Looks like ESP has some less than thrilling 20th models

Must be an artist model year for hose ups between Ibanez and ESP. First the JEM and now the KH ESP. Would be a beautiful guitar if it didn't have his signature inlaid on the fret board. Lame, the Kamakazi is the same way, why is there an eary 1950's US jet on the fret board of a kamakazi? I will say that the ESP case is very innovative. I guess I'm just to old to get it anymore.

Re: Looks like ESP has some less than thrilling 20th models

I think last year was ESP's year for the sigs and model changes. They went full blown on the Axxion, and Mustaine is gone now. They also upgraded the M-II to a neckthru.

Sh!t, they brought back the Hanneman in Urban Camo this year. That finish alone is gonna run you $3000 plus in the custom shop. Well, now that I think about it, that Hanneman is probably going to be $3000 plus. Some people may not dig it, but that is the best playing guitar I own, period.

If anyone here has ever played a high end ESP (or even an LTD deluxe for that matter), then you know that they are some of the best playing guitars out there for the price right now.

I can't imagine that all guitar companies can continuously outdo themselves every year. ESP's year was definitely last year, so they would have some hard shoes to fill. But I think they did a relatively good job, considering they lost a pretty important endorsee.

So what is wrong with the Kam...??? I don't see where you don't get the point of the bomber airplane inlay...?!? isn't that the reason why the guitar is called Kamikaze...???

Me too man, I want it bad. It's weird too, because me and my girl were discussing the Kamikaze 1 yesterday and both of us agreed it should have bomb inlays. Lo and behold, Olie posts that pic this morning, and there they are.

One day I hope I can afford one.

Sounds like you're a very lucky man! Usually the female side of the relationship has one question about a guitar.........how much did you say it cost?

I guess I'm a little to up on my history. The Kamakazi's were pretty much any propeller driven airplanes the Japanese could hurl at the Allies in desperation. I mean literally crash and kill themselves with. The fret inlay on the ESP Kamakazi is practically an exact outline of the first US jet. Maybe they did to give us props and admit they started a bunch of shizzle they couldn't finish. LOL

Re: Looks like ESP has some less than thrilling 20th models

I love the KH-20 with the sig inlay (and I don't even like Kirk Hammett). In fact, I wish Ibanez would've added a Vai sig inlay like that to the JEM 20th (even though I love the JEM 20th as released).

Could you give some more detail on your Urban Camo ESP? For example, how thin & wide is the neck, relative to a new Prestige neck, etc.? I may have a chance to get one of the Urban Camos, so I'm very interested in hearing your opinions on yours. Thanks.
