Melancon guitars - check these out.

Hey guys, check out this guys guitars *www.melanconguitars.com he's a good friend of mine. *He's been doing this forever and its recently caught on, he's got more orders than he can keep up with (he refuses to build over 300 a year- he's VERY much a perfectionist) and is selling all over the U.S. and even in Germany. *I've been playing a Custom Artist for a couple of years now... and if I wasn't so in love with the Jem7VWH, I'd consider another. *Some of you may have seen his stuff at NAMM. *Anyway thought you'd be interested. *

BTW I have a Classic Artist in Cherry sunburst with a flame maple top (not a custom artist-I actually had to look at his web site to tell what model I have...duh!). *You could just fall into the finish. *After I got mine he started using L.R. Baggs trems with the peizo p-upas an option. *I've been thinking of having him switch mine over. *I currently have a Wilkinson trem. *Anybody have any experience with the LR baggs stuff? *Does it stay in tune? *Whats the sound quality like on a live gig?

LOL!!! we've been round and round about that. *He's "older" from the 70's generation. *He's not into flat necks and pointy headstocks. *I usually stop by his shop once a week or so, so I know him pretty well. *He's kinda a local legend around here. *He's probobly one of the best players I've ever heard. *Basically its what he likes. *(think about if you built guitars for a living, what would they be like?)*He will build the necks to pretty much any radius that you want... up to 16", but everything he has on site are 12". *I've told him I'd love to play a flat thin neck, but I'd have to order one for him to build it. *I have one (a 12" radius neck) and after playing on my Ibanez it feels really fat. *But in all honesty there is something about this guitar that smokes everything for semi-clean and clean stuff. *The tone more than makes up for what I feel the neck lacks. *Don't get me wrong the action is low, the frets are dressed better than anything I've ever owned. *But I cut my teeth on a flat neck and that's what I love. *I still bring it to the gig, and play it for anything that doesn't require hi gain or super fast playing. *The pictures don't do them justice... I like to just go to his shop and ogle the tops... he uses awesome maple wood and his finishes are increadable. *I'm working on him... what can I say

uhhh, trying to get him to come over to the flat radious way of thinking. * Pull him away from the dark side (the evil Fender worshipping side)

No offense intended to all you Fender guys... I have one myself. *Just a joke! Put away the hate e-mail, put down the keyboard! *A feeble attempt at humor. Fender good...Fender good
