MIM Fenders vs. G&L Tributes

Ok,here we have the import versions of both companies....if you had to choose between the two which one would you pick and why? Lets keep it Strats against Strats and Teles against Teles!!

Re: MIM Fenders vs. G&L Tributes

I had an American Tele, I now have a Mex Tele. It is every bit as good as the Amerisan Tele in all respects. I prefer it actually. I have heard that from other tele players as well. I have a G&L Legacy which IMO is far better than any Strat I've played, and I played 2 stores full of strats before I bought the G&L. I have not played the Tributes. But I'm sure G&L has darn good quality control over the Tributes, like PRS does over the SE's. Therefore, play them both, get the one you like, they are probably equal in quality control. It'll come down to tone and playability preference, which is purely subjective.

Also, check harmony-centra.com's user reviews.

Re: MIM Fenders vs. G&L Tributes

I have a MIM Stratocaster, and the tone is as good as an american one. I played on a couple of americans in a store, and a friend has one as well. I still prefer mine over the others. The only bit that I need to work on, but I keep putting off for some reason is to redo the wiring, as I'm pretty sure it's not shielded properly.

Re: MIM Fenders vs. G&L Tributes

Well i just got back from trying out some Tributes and IMO the MIM Fenders are MUCH better!!! The Tributes are decent though except the necks feel cheap to me. Maybe if they were finished better or had a high gloss finish to them they would seem nicer but.....Also those headstocks are pretty fugly!!!!

Did you buy a Fender? Are you leaning toward one?

I must've gotten screwed on my MIM Teles and Strats. My American ones kill them in every aspect except price, but the MIMs are nice

I tried to like the Tributes because I do like G&L guitars, but I found the same thing, the necks felt cheap.

my brother recently got a deluxe players in sapphire blue and that thing is absolutely gorgeous, when we were trying fenders at GC MIM s felt as good as american ones, but the deluxe player sounded way better to my ears.
