Nice modifications on your Tokai strat.

The only thing I modified was this-

It was black at first. ^

I like that white pickguard Tokai, she has a fine burst on her. Is that a SpringySound, or an ST model? (I'll get pics of my stratobastards tonite)

The headstock says Tokai Goldstar Sound. And if I remember correctly it was AST 33 or 50, made in Korea. It had Seymour Duncan's Little Twanger Banger as bridge pickup so i guess it was some kind of limited edition.

Re: Modified strats

OK, here's my two as promised:

The one on the left is a Japanese Strat neck, and alder WD body painted seafoam green, Fender CS 54 pickups, and a Wilkinson bridge. The one on the right has a Charvel Model 1 neck with an Earvana nut, Carvin pickups, a MIM body, and an Fender american vintage trem. The green one sounds better, but the Charvel plays better.

That's because the frets from 10 to 21 are scalloped and I haven't oiled the fretboard enough well. I should oil it couple times and then do the scalloping for the rest of the fretboard.

What kind of Carvin pickups do you have in.

Re: Modified strats

I bought the pre-assembled pickguard with the 3 AP11's in it. They are nice sounding pickups, and very useable, but they aren't thin and trebbly and they lack the typical quack of a Strat single coil. They are a lot warmer with a more typical humbucker sound. I like the vintage Strat sparkly clean thin sound. Now that I'm playing through a half stack and not a smaller combo, I'm remembering why I liked single coils so much. The Carvins are great for folks who like single coils but find stock Strat pickups too thin. I'll eventually swap out the Carvins for another Fender set. The Earvana nut now, I can't say enough about that. It's so worth the 35 bucks it is just ridiculous.

Re: Modified strats

I had only blocked the trem on my G&L S-500 because that thing is horrendous!
