I didn't discover this site until after I shipped my
Sims Guitar back to Sims for repair. My first mistake.
So here's the story:
I buy a Sims guitar from a dealer that was no longer carrying their line. Mine apparently was one of the first production guitars made. First of all, I must say the guitar is very nice, and sounds killer. But here's the issue:
The Floyd rubs so much against the trem cavity wall that it's unusable. You drop the bar, and the trem sticks where you left it. It doesn't pop back into position. Mind you, this is a NEW GUITAR. At least in the 'fixed' up position, the guitar sounds good.
I wrote to Patrick and the dealer, asking what's up.... the dealer blew me off totally. Patrick, however, contacted me immediately and was very apologetic, and offered to fix it for me. I ship it to him, he will ship it back 'same day'. I resisted at first, because I thought I could find someone locally. However most people were charging at least double what my shipping costs would be. So off it went to Patrick.
Long story short, he's had it a month. Lots of unreturned communications and undelivered promises later, he's no longer replying to me.
WTF? I discovered this site after the guitar was there. If he's that backlogged, why the hell offer to turn around a guitar the same day, when people have been waiting over a year for their guitars???? I'm pretty pissed that I bought a guitar that NEVER SHOULD'VE LEFT THE SHOP. It was unusable. And I'm sorry, a bad rout is no one's fault but the builders. Who installs a Floyd that catches the trem wall, and ships it to be be sold to a dealer?
My last communication was friendly, just asking him to return it, since he can't fix the problem. No response.
Sorry I just needed to vent.
