My whole point was in reference to the posters who say they “can’t play” anything else.

I think we have beat this one to death.
I think you took that a little to literally,

Just to cut through all the hiber jiggery that kids talk these days.

"cant play on a W2" = "cant play as well on a W2 so why would I want to use it"

No, I was referring to certain posters who actually wrote that they could not play any other neck because it was too uncomfortable. However there is really no point in debating it further.

YMMV

Looking back, I think it's this post

Neck thickness is all personal taste, I really can only play an original wizard or its way too uncomfortable and i get cramps in my hand.

I've never tried a real Wizard, but the Prestige Wizard, which is a bit thicker than a Wizard, but thinner than the Wizard II, is one of my favorites. My absolute favorite is the neck on the JEM7VWH, though. Wonderful neck.

Or they've been playing only Ibanez since they've started guitar, which is still somewhat sad.

Why would that be sad? People a lot of the time stick with the guitar they start with

That isn't the case with me however. I started with Gibsons, then to Fenders, then to Ibanez, then to PRS, then back to Ibanez. BECAUSE of the super wizard. Well the one that actually has the original wizard dimensions.

I simply don't like the WII. It's just a personal preference. I can play guitar with a WII, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.

Not that there is anything inherently WRONG with the WII. Some people really like it. I just happened not to be one of them.

Glad to see the new RG 550s will come with the original wizard profile.

That is one of the things Jay bragged about.

Well, my first guitar was a very, very bad Harmony acoustic that came with a set of steel strings and a set of nylon strings. I remember the steel ones breaking shortly after getting it when I was trying to tune it, so it had nylons on it for a while. I got bored with it, and basically left it sitting for 3-4 years. I decided to actually learn to play, so I learned on that. Then, I got an Epiphone SG, and it's been my only electric for a while. My grandmother is buying me a new guitar for my birthday, and I'm definitely going to get an Ibanez. Anyway, I like most brands of guitars, regardless of neck profile or colors offered.

Re: MOVING BEYOND WIZARD NECKS........

I like most guitars too. But that original wizard has something "special" that grabs me. It's THE reason I bought an Ibanez.

The features Ibanez has I can get elsewhere. BUT the wizard neck. No one else makes a neck like that.

At one time 90% of their guitars came with this neck. It was the neck that made Ibanez popular.

Now less than 2% probably come with this neck.

Sad.
