My first guitar!
Just wanted to show my first guitar that i bought a couple of months ago! From GC. A Squier fender black telecaster for $200. Made in indonesia. post serial number later
was it a good price and worth it? Oh and it was new with the plastic cover. I had a low budget... and what wood is it? (if that makes sense...)

Re: My first guitar!
Nice! I wish the guitar I started on had been that nice.
The body is made of agathis. While that's not bad, there are much better woods out there. Reminiscent of mahogany.
I'd say that it was worth it.
Nice guitar.

Re: My first guitar!
Thats so much better than my first guitar. I think it was a Hondo strat copy which was horrible in hindsight but was my first one.

Re: My first guitar!
Much nicer than mine, as well, and I started with Ibanez! I had an RX20L, made of laminated alder and maple. Sounded like crap with the stock
powersound pickups
. Made in Korea, if I remember correctly. The neck was nicer then the newer Indonesian GRX20's.Frets ends were done way better, and it had a
maple neck
.

Congratulations, a first guitar is always a big milestone! Whatever you do though, don't sell it in a few years time if your still playing. You'll only regret it otherwise. The 'first' guitar is always special.

Re: My first guitar!
I was in Jr. High School and everyone was still reeling from Sgt. Pepper and Hendrix -Are You Experienced.
We were a three piece band bass drums &
acoustic guitar
called "Tree" and did our best to cover those records plus a new upstart band from England that was getting alot of press with a stupid name- Led Zeppelin.
I've told the story elsewhere on this site, but electric guitars were very rare, almost never seen at that time - at least in my circles - anyway, a friend's older brother had a REAL solid-body
electric guitar
-it looked like a strat (MIJ copy) and he agreed to sell it to me. I had to work all summer to amass all that money cutting lawns, delivering papers, washing cars, cleaning out neighbor's basements.....
Finally, after that seemed like years I had saved a pile of money and my dad drove me to the guys house and I gave him my pile and he gave me the guitar. It only had 4 strings on it at the moment, but I still loved it. Sunburst. a curly guitar cord too. I had no amp yet. but so what? I had a REAL electric guitar!!!!.

It was 1969.
The guitar cost $25.00
I was never so proud.

Re: My first guitar!
A black dual humbucker Fender tele was the first guitar of a classmate of mine back in the late 80s. Don't remember were it was made though... have fun with it.
My first guitar was an Epiphone superstrat with a $hitty tremolo, H/S/S and an Explorer type headstock. It was white, and even the back of the neck was white too... I saved to get it, and then I saved to get a
Dimarzio Super distortion
for it. I got it together with a little amp called "Elephant" it was 15watt and had a lot of distortion but crappy tone (I still have that in a closet somewhere...) I think it was around 1986 or something. Sold it in 1990 to get the RG550, wish I'd have kept it though... :-/

Re: My first guitar!
Nice choice, it looks the business and I'm sure does the job well.
You'll probably get the bug now and HAVE to buy more guitars. Your parents won't understand but it'll make sense to you... and that is all that matters!

Very good advice godfather. I still have my first electric for that very reason!
I've had tons of acoustics, but my first electric was something very special.
