Glad to hear you had success. How much weight would you say was added to the body? Could you perceive much tonal difference?

There is a significant weight gain to the body, which I really like. I'm into the heavy guitar thing... Sustain has improved some, but I don't know if it's really such a big deal.

I like the cream pickups. They tie the unfinished maple headstock into the gold.

They always said that the chrome mimics the surface it's being put on and when they emailed me they repeated this. I was worried with the inside story that i heard that company is a Ed Roman company as GGG was always something he used w/ a name and his business. Hence why checks aren't made out to GGG they are made out to a corporate name.

Yeah, funny story with the pickups: they were Dimarzios that I had gotten with another guitar as originals that had been replaced. When I was putting the golden guitar together, I found the cream and gold went together really well. So there they are!

I was looking as you were for a way to get a guitar chromed. I already knew how to do it, I knew that you would have to have a base coat that allows the metal to bond to during electroplating. Assuming you have a non metallic guitar. I do understand also that your instrument surface has to be flawless. I have a few Fender Aluminum bodied Stratocasters, they (Fender) will not any time soon make such guitars for the mass market. We all know about the Custom Shop Strats, but many do not know that in 1994 (Fender's 40th Anniversary) fender made several Strats with aluminum bodies, these weren't chromed, but they were anodized a process that is similar but with non metallic coatings. I have several of Ibanez's Sabres and Prestige Guitars. I had one that I have ordered almost 20 years ago, a USA made Ibanez (actually Ghostbuilt by ED ROMAN). I wanted to have it chromed, but did not want to go through the process of having the "Condutivity Barrier" added to the finish. I chose ALSACORP, these guys and their products are amazing. They have many different demonstrations and huge galleries. I would suggest that you use their product "Chrome FX", this is done professionally. Believe it or not they have also have what they call "Killer Cans" these products can be used by a novice painter. If you feel you are pretty good with a can of paint you can try to do it your self. The site has many very helpful tips and most of all you get to see the product in actual application, even the Killer Cans! I think you would more than be impressed. Oh by the way I purchased the Chrome FX system, I paint (more like Chrome) stuff all of the time. The system is expensive, so unless you really want to go into business, just the have the professionals there do it for you. Wait till you see their Auto gallery of "Chromed Cars" Also for you guys that just want to pimp your guitar out with some of the wildest finishes in the paint world, they have that covered too. Just look and see.

This is my second post, I actually registered here because I searched the web for over three years till I found these guys. I just wanted to share my knowledge with all of you that were interested.

I saw a thread about a chrome Yamaha, and took immediate notice. You know that one guitar you got rid of, and regret it above all others? Yeah I thought so....here's mine.






This was.....and I assume still is, a Yami 1221MS Pacifica. It was a tremendous guitar, sounded awesome. The pups were Freds.....funny, I had a Warmoth mahogany bodied guitar with Freds that sounded really anemic. The chroming was done by some place in Ohio according to the previous owner. It came out pretty good I thought.
