My new custom :D
Hey, I just got this a few weeks ago, didn't get a chance to squeeze everything out of it since I've been rather busy, so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
But first: it's a handmade guitar, with my "dream" specs so to speak, by a really really wonderful luthier. Skilled, dedicated, and a lot more.
Specs
5pc maple/wenge neck-thru
Mahogany wings
Rosewood top
Ebony fingerboard
24 frets, last 8 scalloped
Schaller FR, medium recess
Gotoh locking tuners
R2 nut
H-S-H pickup config, "Bare Knuckles" pups, Painkiller bridge, Trilogy suite mid coil and Cold Sweat neck
Coil split function
I can't remember the neck measurements, and fretboard radius heh... I know i had a long chat with the luthier about all these before deciding...

Apparently i can't upload more than this 80kb pic because "it exceeds my quota" whatever that's meant to be. I'll post an imageshack link w/ more pics, soon.

Re: My new custom :D
regarding the inlays: just 1 inlay, 3rd fret. mother of pearl "valknut" symbol. rest of the frets are without inlays
and yes, i bought it from a luthier, but mainly because i wanted a guitar with my specs, i hate all these big companies with machine made guitars.. all look the same to me... sad

Very nice, although IMO could be even nicer if the pickup rings weren't there. Great guitar though.

I am a luthier myself. I'm currently making 3 Vinnie Vincent replica's for 3 different people. All ordered within 2 days, Strange...... But they are all almost done. I have a tele paul mix I am working on that I want to get back too because, its for ME! lol

Re: My new custom :D
It took you 3 days to build those guitars? Well, idk how you did it by the luthier I went to took 2 months to do it. From the ordering of the woods till it was in my hands... Everything was done by hand, as far as I know..

Re: My new custom :D
I only wish there was a luthier I could trust enough to build a guitar to the specs I'd like. But alas, there are none I know of around here.

Oh GOD no, it taken 8 weeks so far. The fastest I can make one is 3 weeks because of the ordering of the parts. Once I have the parts it only takes 3 to 4 days.

Re: My new custom :D
I'm surprised because, even with all the materials at your disposal, assembling the parts takes a while. Not to mention the finish, gluing the fingerboard, the top (if any) and so on... But that's just what I know from this luthier, I don't know much about it and I'm sure you know what you're talking about
@DanteGuitar: I would be more than happy to assist you. This luthier, I know him from my guitar teacher here in my country, who is Sicilian. They know each other and are currently working together on a project.. I wouldn't have blindly spent so much money (~1900eur including the pickups and flight to Italy) if I didn't have proof of his skills.
I corresponded with him via email during the whole project, and I bet he can do the same for you. I trust him 199% and when I got there, I "set camp" in his workshop for the last 2-3 days of the project, and watched him work on my guitar as well as some others. He's a very dedicated and hardworking craftsman, not to mention his passion and attention to details. Yes, I was really impressed with his work and I think I'll be ordering myself a new guitar from him, next year
By the way, I have a full set of pictures, from the production.. From day 1 till final day of production, and I've made a thread regarding this project on the caparison forum, a while ago.. Here you will find pictures from throughout the project.

(my apologies for my English, I'm tired

Some people can't afford custom made guitars, some are happy with off the shelf products and some feel it's necessary to get a custom to obtain a guitar they are happy with. Everything with guitar comes down to personal taste and, in the end, it's what you do with the instrument, not which one you play, that makes all the difference
