My new Vigier Shawn Lane model!!!

Took delivery of this yesterday:

Without a doubt, the finest guitar i have ever played. I din't think it was possible to have action this low, and the tone and sustain are incredible. If you've never tried a Vigier, and you ever have an opportunity to do so, i highly recommend you do.
Unbelievable!!!!

Very cool. Grats.

The fretboard on those things is totally flat, isn't it? How does that feel?

Also, how did you manage to get one of these in the US, if I may ask.

Yes it is flat, and i was actually wondering how i would like it- so far, i think it feels great, although it will take a bit of adapting to. But i've found that with any new guitar, there is some adaptation. But with this guitar, the action is so low, that all you do is touch the string and it's fretted. I do like that the neck feels pretty much the same no matter where you are playing, which i believe is the reason Shawn wanted the guitar made this way.

I got mine from evilbay- coincidentally, the guy i got it from is selling another one right now, although it's the "natural finish" version.
There are a few dealers too- here's one of the cooler ones, located in NY:

Awesome!

I have really wanted one of those for a long while now. My biggest question is whether or not the neck really doesn't need a truss rod. I know that they are designed with some speicial insert that keeps the neck from moving... but here in the SouthEast it gets pretty humid (AND dry) at different times of the year.

I just wonder if that design could stand up to our weather down here.

Congratualtions on your acquisition!!

I'm a little curious about that too- according to Patrice Vigier, it shouldn't be a problem, but i live in the Northeast where it gets hot and humid in the summer, so i'll find out first-hand how well the neck stays put.

Congrats on the new axe! Vigier necks are so good it's unfair to the competition! And they are incredibly stable...the carbon insert is very strong indeed. Everybody should just read all the info on the Vigier site.

That action does look very low as well as I can see. Might give my Carvin some competition!

Vigier meticulously set up their guitars before it leaves the factory. Everything has to be PERFECT. That's how they can provide insanely low action like that...and even if it were a millimeter off you prolly wouldn't notice lol.
