My Son's "Green Meanie"

So my oldest was looking over Jemsite with me when I was looking at the Green Meanie thread and he asked if I could make his guitar look like that. Now, he's 12 and can't play worth a crap, but I said, sure, I can sort of make it like that.

Mind you this is an $8.00 flea market no name electric strat clone made out of (i'm embarrassed, but it's the one he picked) MDF and it's S/S/S, so I did the best I could with what we had.

He's happy with it, so I am sharing it. As he gets older, he will get better and I will just have to go get him a new one. I will eventually put a hum in the bridge and try to match the colors better, but it's a start, lol.

Re: My Son's "Green Meanie"

you gotta do the lower horn cutaway to the same shape as the pickguard too if you are feeling really ambitious!
if hes happy with it then hes inspired to play it, and the sooner that happens the sooner he can earn a new one and then you can butcher the green meanie together!!
nice work in the meantime!

that doesn't look like mdf mate, looks like real wood. But you need to change the pickguard a bit.

Nice effort though.

Ironically enough, I am was already working on one when I read this. Just finishing up on the clearcoats I'm giving it. This kinda gave me a kick in the butt to finish mine. Thanks for the boot! hehe.

Very cool. The Green Meanie has always been my favorite of Steve's guitars.
