My strat - time for a new paintjob

ok my guitar is a fender floyd rose original US strat. sweet guitar but a hidious color. It is creme with a turtle shell pickguard. Im wanting to paint it bad. I have a uncle who has his own spray booth , but what am i going to need to do to have this done?


What kind of paint do i need? I really like a chrome illusions or a pearl overcoat type of paint job like on some "custom" cars... anyone know if car paint will work?

hmmm... I think car paint would harm the wood badly.

If I had a Strat, I'd not paint it. I would sand the original painting, make it natural finished, put a black pickguard and gold hardware and make my "Fender Strat Neville".

Almost every pre-CBS (1965-66) custom color strat you'll ever see was painted with car paint (du Pont, I believe), so it clearly works...

To verify your belief, DuPont automotive paints were used on Strats. *There is a list somewhere on the internet that gives the exact code for the undercoat and overcoat.
