need advice on guitar

ok i up to the stage of getting a new guitar, since I'm quite bored of my one at the moment.

its out of these.

Esp Ltd m-200(2000 ish model)
basswood body
black finish
emg passive Pickups
natural finish think neck
flyod rose bridge
afterburner
comes with a case

Esp Ltd m-400 (2006 model)
specs are on www.espguitars.com
no case =(

i like the afterburner and you can easily install one on the m400 for 100 dollars. i dont really care about the pickups, but i like the passives more.
the difference in price is around 200-400 dollars. i also like the natural finish neck on the m200.

any suggestions?

Re: need advice on guitar

As for the ESP LTD, the quality is usually not so good on models below 400. At best it's sketchy. You MIGHT get lucky, you might not.

Apparently you're playing metal, have you checked out Schecter C-1?

There are several models all ranging between $550 and $799. The big plus is they're all mahogany with maple tops. Coupled with EMGs they ROCK.

Models to check out - C1 Hellraiser, C1 FR, C1 Blackjack (Duncans JB/59 if you also want nice cleans too).

Schecter is great bang for the buck but there are sporadic reports of hardware coming loose after a few years of play. I suppose that depends on how hard you abuse the thing, I don't know. But fo what you get for your money, you can well afford to fix what comes loose if and when it happens.

Re: need advice on guitar

i play quite rough..

the c1 Fr looks quite nice, but it cost like 200 more than the mh400. also it doesn't come with a case.. and i am not a big fan of schecters.

the m200 is made from basswood and has emg Hz H3 or H4s i think..when i check it, it says 'EMG HZ' and has both gold and silver writing labels. normal ltds under the 400s have a 'ESP EMG' on it and these are LH300s.

so i am thinking of getting the 200..over the 400. just because i like the passives better.

Re: need advice on guitar

Well, hey man, I'm not gonna try to change your opinion if it's solid... but, if you haven't played a Schecter within the last couple of years, you might become a big fan of them when you do. I remember not liking them years ago... they were just mediocre at best, it seemed. But, they started making their **** MUCH nicer. I played a Blackjack C-1 and it's seriously almost on par with my ESP Custom as far as playability is concerned. And you can't go wrong with Mahogany topped with Maple loaded with a JB and '59. Awesome heavy tones, awesome clean tones. Basically, just give it a go and see if you can change your mind.

Either way though, LTD's are nice, as long as it's beyond the 400 series like master of metal puppets said. The MH-1000 is incredibly nice... maple binding, mmmmmmmmm

Hey do you happen to know what the fretboard radius on current Schecters is?
