need info on ernie ball music man silhouette......

Hey guys I have the opportunity of picking up a second hand Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette at a pretty decent price. I was just wondering what you guys think of these guitars (ie. past experiences, problems, etc).

Also I can't seem to find much info on the model i'm looking at. Its got a kinda faded black to natural wood finish, as well as a Floyd Rose on it. If any of you guys know what year this could possibly be from, or point me to a site that would have this info, it would be much appreciated.

Also, to any current EBMM owners, did you replace the pickups, or end up liking the pre-installed factory ones?

I have a Silhouette and I love it! It Never goes out of tune and the feel and tone is superb! I assume the one you are looking at is used. So If the price is right and it has specs you like then get it!

EBMM currently installs 2 Paf Pros and a Custom Wound Single in the middle in the Silhouettes. I traded a PRS Single Cut with Birds and trem for mine back in December and got my Silhouette on Feb 9th. I changed mine to an Andy Timmons in the bridge and an Area 67 in the middle and a Liquifire in the neck. (all Dimarzios) And I upgraded the pots to a 500K in the volume position and a Fender No-Load in the tone. I also changed the saddles to Graphtech. I also thru in a Tremol-No. I LOVE mine! Its amazing! I dont regret that trade one bit! Im VERY happy with my EBMM.

The Silhouettes, like all the EBMM models I've played are just great guitars. I've had 3 Silhouettes and an Axis. In my opinion they have maybe the best stock pickups of any guitar out there. There really isn't a single negative thing I can think of about them.

You would probably get more answers in the EBMM forums...

As for my EBMM, i love my jp6, its a great guitar. Wonderful.
and for the pickups, the jp6 came with a Dsonic in the bridge and a Dimarzio AirNorton-ish neck, so no problems there.

Great stuff, with killer customer support.

For the Silhoutte the Floyd Rose years pretty much mirror the same time period as the EVH signature - I'm pretty sure EBMM switched these to the Floyds in 1992 (could have been late 1991 after they started shipping the EVH guitars) and stopped using them sometime in 1995/96. By 1997 they were only using their vintage trem on the Silhouettes.

Never had a Silhouette, I've had Silhouette Specials but always with 3 single coils, never the humbucker. Great guitars all; wish I hadn't had to sell my last one since it was a 2007 LE in Blue Dawn.

I've never played a silhouette, but I have a bfr axis and the neck plays like butter. Kept the stock p/u and just love them. I own a few prs and some ibbys and to tell you the truth Im thinking of selling my Jem lng to fund another ebmm.
