Need Your 80's / Big Hair /Neon Color Help!!

I stopped by a local guitar store the other day and mentioned to the pony-tailed guy there (good guy) that I was interested in 80's neon/floyd rose type guitars if he ever came across any.

Well, the guy called my cell today out of the blue and told me the following guitars will be at his shop next week. None of these are expensive guitars, but I'm looking for your opinion in order which are the best players:

Ibanez 570 in Neon Pink
Ibanez 270 in Neon Green
Kramer Focus 3000 in Hot Pink
Washburn MG 30 in Hot Lime Green
Charvel Model 3 in Bright Orange

Thanks for your help- I don't know much about these......

The 570, I guess out of those. I have a Charvel Model 6, which is a neck through. It is an astounding guitar, just a beauty, so be sure to give the Charvel a good looking over just in case.
Hot Lime Green? You know, you should go, bring your camera, and see if you can get us a group shot! That would be cool!

The Focus 3000 isn't bad, either. ESP made, with an OFR. It all depends on price & feel. See if any "speak to you"...

He is my take:

These never came in Pink. Roadflare Red will be the color and they are very nice looking.

Again, it's not gonna' be neon. These guitars were never painted Neon colors and they really aren't that good.

These were painted with the same pink that the Jems used and are subject to fading. If you can swap the neck out for a Jackson or Charvel neck, you may have a descent player.

Never liked anything Washburn made.

This would be my 2nd choice after the RG. These are great guitars.

Maybe the RG570 is in that flip flop "purple neon" colour?

I would go for the RG everytime.

I think that the necks may have been slightly thicker on the kramer and charvel.

THe real reason for recommending the RG is the trem. Basically as long sa it is Jap made, and carries a true edge

All the others would have a lesser FR type. The only trem I would choose over the edge trems (not trs) would be a real Schaller. If any have a real schaller then the RG may not be the best.

I cannot stress this enough. Beware of those cheaper jackson/charvel trems. Some of them are as bad as the TRS.

Hope that's useful.

Jono's probably right...

The early 570's did come in a "neon purple" color but was discontinued early on.
This could possibly be a description of one that's faded slightly and now looks pink.
I'll know next week when I see them.

270-again, haven't seen it yet- I know they never came that color- possibly painted later. Might look cool if it has the shark-fin inlays.

I'll keep a "Cautiously Optomistic" attitude.....

The Kramer would have a real Floyd. (Or did you mean "lesser FR type", as in they're all inferior to the Edge, and not that all the others are)licensed?)

The Focus guitars were a great cheaper alternative, to the pricier models. The Striker was the one that most folks would tell you to avoid, since the later models were plywood. (Music YO really screwed up, by having their Focus as the bottom of the line, and the Striker above it )

I would probably go the Charvel cos I already have a bunch of RGs. Sometimes it's fun to have something a bit different. Depends on condition of course and if I had the cash I'd get them both.

The Charvel would either have a Schaller Trem or a JT-6 which IIRC was made by Schaller anyway. The early Kramer Focus guitars are awesome. I had a 6000 that rocked and I have a Focus Classic III now which will not go out of tune regardless of the whammy wailing. Gotta love OFR's!

Well, I went..... I saw........... I bought................

The Kramer. Salmon Pink- 9/10 condition with Floyd Rose. s/s/h. Matching salmon headstock.
The others were in rough shape with no special paint. This one looked new. $200. with a clean Ibanez hard case.

This was a fun exercise and one I'm sure to do again.

I think I'll barbecue a salmon steak in it's honor tonight!

Thanks for all your help fellow Jemsiters.
