New addition to the herd

Here's a few pics of my newest one...just arrived today. The top end
Peavey V Type. Not a single scratch on this one.......absolutely perfect
condition!!

The one thing that jumps out at me about this one is the neck.
Very similar to a Les Paul.

Re: New addition to the herd

Fit and finish wise it's really nice. The neck is about as far away from a
Wizard that you could get.........think Les Paul. The stock pups aren't my
alltime favorites either.......although that's an easy fix. Time will tell if this
one's a "flipper" though. If I end up moving it though,it wont be because of
any inherent flaw.......it'll only be because I'm too used to my Ibby's.

A freind of mine has Dunc JB's installed in his and sounds great. Just a suggestion if your thinking about a pickup swap out.

It is not a Vandenberg it's a V-type! I love the neckthrough and the abalone binding on it!!! Nice score!

Re: New addition to the herd

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the V in V-type stands for Vandenberg, they just didn't want to pay him to be an endorsee anymore but wanted to reissue his guitar. I loved the original Vandenbergs, awesome players. This one's a real beauty too.

No Vandenberg on headstock, Not made in america, no Kahler trem, neck profile and radius is different, different pickup configuration etc... = Not Vandenberg and it's definitely not an official reissue either. I guess that's why they called it V-type(Vandenberg type??? ) so that they could use the body design without calling it Vandenberg as Gilky pointed out.

Here's the info from Peavey's website! No mention of Vandenberg at all!!!

http://www.peavey.com/products/brows...TypeSeries.cfm

V-Type Series
We've outfitted this premier metal axe with ceramic humbuckers for cranking thick distorted tones and a no-heel, neck-through-body construction to accommodate fast fingerwork and furious riffing. The V-Type NTB comes in tremolo (TR) and stop tailpiece (ST) models, with a Floyd Rose(R)-licensed, doublelocking tremolo for dive-bombing solos or a Tunomatic(R) bridge with string-through-body design for nontremolo players. Proudly played by underground metal's finest.

V-Type(TM) NTB ST
V-Type(TM) NTB TR

Willie Adler of Lamb of God has his Peavey Rotor™ and the V-Type guitars on constant road duty. "Both the Rotor and the V-Type are set up the same, as far as the action, and they're both really easy to play," he raves. "You can have the lightest touch and play super fast with them."

gorgeous axe it is. just because adrian vandenburg doesn't endorse it doesn't mean its not the "same" axe. ie EBMM axis. subtlies aside, it is the vandenburg.
