Cool

New baritone John Petrucci models

Hi,

I don't know if anybody knew that there are new baritone John Petrucci guitars coming out this year? I just noticed on John's site. They're pretty amazing. You could click on the pic for more info.

Personaly, I don't like 'em.
The neck is longer, it may feel strange.
And there is no high registers because of the low tuning.
Anyway... aside from the open-string riffs, you can just use a 7-string.
Also, did you notice that Petrucci himself didn't use the Baritone on the new DT album (Systematic Chaos)?

itīd been great if they had made it a 27 or 28 fretter, so yu could still hit the high notes

I reeeeeally dislike those Musicman models. I haven't played a JP model, but going by looks alone, i would not buy such a guitar. Offcourse many disagree with me and that's okay. I prefer an Ibanez model

Re: New baritone John Petrucci models

^^^^^ Don't let the "looks alone" feature steer you away from an incredible
piece of craftsmanship of sonic bliss. Yes the guitar is not "flashy", but it molds to your
body like no other piece of wood I've ever felt. Plus, the finishes on the
newer models are top notch as well as his signature inlays. I said WOOD.....
I just bought my JP6 less than 3 weeks ago and I've got to
say that it is the nicest guitar I have ever played/owned. The
neck is perfect, and the piezo system is just incredible. The thing
that impresses me the most on the guitar is the trem
system design. Talk about butter smoothness and staying out of
the way when playing. It's only drawback is the
range it can be pulled up, but other that that it's perfect in my mind.
Flutter is outstanding and it takes almost no effort at all to noodle.
I truly think that it puts all other FR and Edge
systems to shame, but that's just my opinion. I say this because
I currently own everything from an original edge, lo-pro6&7, 2 edge
pro's, 2 edge III's, and have played an original FR and ZR trem in the
past quite extensively. If I had the coin to drop on another guitar right now it
would definatley be another JPMM model. You should seriously get your
hands on one to atleast try it, because it just might change your mind
as quick as it did mine. Lastly, that purple quilt is to die for!!

I'll probably buy one of those since 7-strings suck. Awesome idea.

1 - if your buying for for pure cosmetics, you need to be kicked in the ball-sack from behind

2 - compare the crafting of an EBMM to a Jem and then reply to this comment

I think cosmetics are ALSO important. Not THE factor to decide, but very important none the less. Don't you agree? I would never buy a guitar that i did consider ugly.

So i can't give my opinion about the looks alone? If you are serious, then you need help.

Re: New baritone John Petrucci models

I actually think the idea of a baritone guitar is very interesting. I experiment a lot with drop tunings. I like the sound of it. A baritone would be like taking it one step further. It's interesting.

Does anybody know how these guitars are tuned? Is the lowest open string a low B, perhaps?

Btw, I think the colors of this model are absolutely amazing! I always liked the idea of using gems as a basis for colors. And these amethyst and emerald colors really rock.

I don't like the inlays, though. I hope there's an option to get regular dots.

Re: New baritone John Petrucci models

Is the neck like an Ibanez wizard? Or is it like a Strat?
