Wow... sweet! Where did you find these? They're not listed anywhere on the site.

Darren - go to the Carvin BBS. The links are in one of the topics in the
Carvin Guitars
section. I just ordered a Bolt T today. I think I may switch the order to the new 66 if it will come with a
Wilkinson trem
.
I'm not gonna sleep all weekend

BBS? What's that? I thought BBS's were long old stuff. None the less, the guitars seem mucho fine. Carvin makes awesome stuff, all around.

True, the term BBS is a blast from the past. Reminds me of the old telnet days (sigh). Regardless, that's what Carvin calls it's Forum.

I like what I see! I have always been impressed by Carvin. I have a Carvin store about 5 miles away and I go in there on occasion to check things out. Looks like I will be paying them a visit soon ;-)

All I can say about Carvin is that my 10th one arrived today
Next week I'll either get the new Bolt-T I ordered or order the new Contour 66. Like I said, if it comes with a Wilky I'm on it. Maybe I'll just get them both

Love my two Carvin 7 stringers (DC727 and DC747C). I just picked up my DC747C after not playing it for a while and discovered all over again how nice it is. My only beef with Carvin is that they don't nip/trim the fret tangs enough and they protrude jaggedly passed the fingerboard edge when the humidity drops and the fingerboards shrink a little. I've got this problem on both my 7 stringers - one with a birdseye maple board and the other with ebony. Only other thing I'd complain about on the 7's is the cheap clunky Floyd they utilize but I believe on the 6
string guitars
, they use higher quality original Floyds.

Agreed. I have had this very same problem with a few of my Carvins. However, I do my own setup and fretwork and it has never been an issue with me. Carvin should, though, consider "rounding" the edges of their fingerboards a bit and pay attention to the fret tangs. They don't come that way, but after a few months, they can get a bit prickly.

I wonder if the fret thing is individual. My 2 Carvin necks don't have as "prickly" frets as either of 2 SC620's I've had. But my other Ibanez axes didn't have this problem, either.

I haven't had this problem on any of my Ibanez's (or Fenders, G&L, Heritage, Godin, etc.). It's really bad on the Carvins. Big complaint from a lot of folks I know is that Carvin doesn't season their wood enough - hence the fingerboard shrink and the jagged frets. Some have also argued that Carvins twin graphite reinforcement rods are there to keep their not-completely-seasoned necks from bending/twisting.
I also don't understand why they don't offer other pups or at least make their pups standard dimensions so that owners can swap out without routing. Seems to me they'd sell a ton more guitars if they could work out these seemingly minor details.

It's probably has something to do with where you live as well as the individual guitar. Here in Colorado the humidity is LOW and I have this problem w/ my JCustom (perfect out of the box, developed it over about a year), a Jem and a Guild. Higher humidity regions probably won't see it as frequently on frets that are dressed properly to start with....

Then there's that...
