...Which makes it all the more depressing that they've become so traditionalist now. I mean, they made their name back in the 50's by completely turning the guitar world on its head with their new, innovative designs... the Stratocaster was like the JEM of it's day. And, then they just sat on their laurels for 50-odd years. Go figure...

I guess G&L is the way to go if you want a "stratocaster" now...

if you've got a design that sells, why change it? it's all about making money. The JEM hasn't really changed that much either in the almost 16 years it's been around.

I think a lot of times great innovations come from less involved sources. Fender is so busy just keeping up with it's current demand, and competing with the other big guns in the industry that there is not a lot of time & energy left in there stratagy for innovation. I guess what I'm trying to say is, when a company gets to big for it's britches, it has to make way for new companies to come along with new innovations. Frankly, I like some of their latest offerings much more than anything I've seen from them in a while!!

I think the Strat-O-Sonic retails for $999.99 (at least that's what the friends of musicians are selling it for), and that's a little bit more than i can afford right now... sux... gotta start saving up my money.

Well gee now. Only $998.00 more to go!! oooops!!! dropped a quarter down the heater vent. Sh!t. I hate it when that happens! $998.25 more to go!!! Acctually I'm trying to get an acc/elect gig rig set up. Right now I'm shootin at an acc. simulator for my RG so I don't have to swap axes mid set. I do a lot of that right now. That's what makes an ax like this so tempting.

Now that you mention it, a buddy of mine has an SG just like this except it has classic humbuckers and I love it which probably explains why this fender strikes my fancy.

Strange that you mentioned it, cos i was thinking it looks like a Les Paul Junior.

anyone noticed the JEM is also a RIP of the Strat?

D@mn!! Got me again!! That's another one of my all time favs. Don't know why I didn't see the resemblance. I'm sure that's why I like it though.
