New Guitar Day....Floyded Strat No Less

I'm having a custom strat built by a very talented guy in Florida, but in the mean time I wanted to find a good backup guitar to match the strat that's being built - (it will be my #1). I hate to say it, but I'm moving away from Jems and Universes at this point and back to Strats.

The custom strat being built has a blonde white finish and I wanted my backup to match but there are songs in the setlist that call for major dive-bombs so I need a locking trem. Unfortunately, very few strats came with double-locking trems from the factory.

So I'm in GC talking to some dude playing a strat and he says he just traded in an Olympic white Strat with a factory Floyd Rose at Daddy's music down the street an hour before - so off I went to take a look.

It was there - I bought it. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for - dark rosewood board with 'clay-dot' inlays, real floyd and a beautifully aged Olympic White finish. S/S/H. And the best part is that I paid 299 for her! What a deal. The floyd system alone is worth what I paid for the guitar. I'll probably change out the pickups to a Evolution in the bridge, and YJM's in the middle and neck. It's a Mexicaster, so I'm not worried about putting dings on her -all in all, a good catch I think. Here's Pix...

Re: New Guitar Day....Floyded Strat No Less

Congrats. I've always liked Floyd equiped Strats, hence the easy transition to Jems

I've been close to grabbing an ESP version of that guitar, ESP MW-600: alder body, SD JB bridge pup, two singles, original Floyd but with rear routed electronics, cool skull graphics (I'm a sucker for skulls and such ) but it also has a maple fretboard. ESP just hiked the price of the MW-600 by $200 this year though, from $899 with no case to $1099 with no case. They didn't add anything to the guitar to quantify the price hike but did instead actually remove the original Sperzels that used to be part of the line (not that they were really needed) .

I'd definitely say $300 is a nice price for what you got, the US version seems to sell between $600-$1100 used depending on condition.

Yup. Daddy's in Orange - they have a GREAT selection of mid-priced used guitars and amps. Sean hooked me up - plus me and my bud bought some very large road cases at the same time - did you see those HUGE brown Calzone road cases with wheels? Well, they are now in our trailer. ....

That looks awesome, only thing I would like different is a maple fretboard.
