New super-rad bass - Frets? *Who needs 'em...

Well.. it showed up today. *After much anticipation (no, not the old Nintendo trivia game). *My brand new Peavey Cirrus 6-string frettless bass. *Oh my is it lovely, but I expected that. *

Here's the deal:
-35" scale
-15" radius
-neck-thru body
-redwood top, alder back

I know a lot of you are thinking... "Peavey? *They are a garbage company..." *Well, after playing bass for a bunch of years, I've come to the conclusion that the only ones for me are Peavey Cirruses and custom Conklins. *Every now and then a company makes something eye catching... but most don't turn me on.

Here are a few pics...

Nice choice, Jay! *The Cirrus line is on my short list of upcoming five-string possibilities (Spector, Yamaha BB line, Lakland, Pedulla.) *If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up shelling out for that beauty, and what do you think of the redwood/frettless combination?

Holy cow, if there were ever a guitar to make me consider buying Peavey, it would be that bass. *Not even the EVH stuff impresses me. *That bass is gorgeous man! *Reminds me of a Tobias.

I paid $1100 w/ case.

The redwood/fretless combination sounds really nice. *Gets some really warm sounds that are great for fretless... but the onboard EQ lets you get some almost "fretted" tones.

Wow... that's purty. I love six-string basses. That redwood top is really beautiful and unique.

Peavey has always made some really nice basses. Their current line has really good value for the money, with all the technology they pack into their basses.

Is that fretboard rosewood? Not my first choice for a fretless board... though Fender's Jaco commemorative Jazz Bass with the epoxy-coated rosewood looks nifty. Not enough strings, though.

Awesome Jay…

A new bass is one thing on a long list of needs for my new studio. *When the time comes I may have to actually look at a Peavey. *I need frets on mine though.
