New USA Charvels!

Oh hell yeah!

http://www.charvelguitars.com/

The comments are from my resident Charvel freak Mike.

"I’m waiting to find out more info but the basics from what I’ve heard/read are that they are being built on the same line as the USA made fender strats just using the Charvel CNC program to get the neck/headstock and body shapes correct. the hardware is one area they skimp a bit...the Floyds are ping not OFR (the best of the cheap Floyds not junk but not the real deal) and the tuners are mini Grovers which I'm most upset about since I hate the look of Grovers on anything but a Les Paul and Charvel was never know for Grovers either. No idea why they didn't just go with Gotohs on them which would be more correct. That’s just a bit of a visual nit pick on my part. I’m not sure if the necks are oil finished or poly finished. I hope they did them in correct Charvel fashion and oil finished them. However being that they are production model guitars using lower grade wood than the custom shop guitars I wouldn't be shocked if they did a satin poly finish on them to make sure they stay straight. Also from the raw pics I saw the bodies seem to be mostly 3pc for those who like to count.

all in all I think these could be real cool and I’d like to get my hands on one when they get in stock at the music zoo since they're local to me and see how far off it is from my custom shop Charvels. that basic black San Dimas style 1 is calling me a bit...and the candy red isn't to shabby either.

-Mike"

That candy tangerine So-Cal model 1 is awesome. They really should have an OFR on them though. Personally I like Grovers.

Re: New USA Charvels!

Read those specs again and then remember this guitar will have a street price of $600-$700.

For everyone that whined you could not get maple or brand name pups on a guitar under $1000 unless it was made off shore...

I am all over one.

Re: New USA Charvels!

Noice! I've always been a fan of Charvels, and now I actually may buy one. My ONLY gripe is the Floyd Rose (yes, I don't like floyd roses, that's another discussion) and black hardware, but that's easily changeable.

Re: New USA Charvels!

Great post. I had not seen this yet.

I like the fact that the So Cals come with Dimarzio's.
But I am not fond of the front input jack.

The San Dimas looks great, I just wish they would come out with a single humbucker version.

The chick in the video has a great rack. The guitars seem like a good deal, but people will still cry because they are made in the Fender plant. Just wait for responses like
"$1000 and you get a cheap Floyd and no middle pickup"

I can not wait to try one of these out. I am really excited about the Charvel name making a come back in the affordable guitar market.

Re: New USA Charvels!

I just picked up a 2006 Charvel San Dimas Reissue in the Copperhead finish for $1100 w/case, a real Floyd and Duncans. It's probably better than these new ones so if you hunt around you get good deals on used Charvels and avoid the Grovers, Ping FR and gig bag stuff.
