Re: NGD 88' Strat Plus

That's a nice guitar you've got yourself Cosmic. From my experience with Strats I'd advise taking extra time to fiddle with the hight of the pickups. Even slight changes up or down can often get huge results with Strats. It's worth spending half an hour with a screwdriver to experiment to suit your tastes.

I second this, doing this makes playability LOADS better, I have no clue why, but it's how the strat came shipped from Fender and I love it. Messed with it once to make it flush with the body and the playability was terrible.

Actually, they come from the factory floating quite a bit, at least my strats are. Mess with it and see what you like.

Re: NGD 88' Strat Plus

The problem I have with floating is that changing tunings requires resetting up the guitar. Lately I have been playing alot of SRV stuff which is tuned a half step down but sometimes I play stuff that uses standard tunings.

Works fine. Once stings are properly streched it stays in tune fine. I don't use the wammy so that is a non-issue as far as tuning stability goes.

I sounds amazing. I can't get over the tone on it. I have no way of recording myself so I can't post anything.

To counter the problem of changing tunings I have a Strat Plus Deluxe on the way for standard tuning. My current is set half-step down. I just made it floating so I could do slight vibratos with the bar in chords. You are correct in the feel and it does make a difference in tone also. Now it has a slighter softer tone which I dig.

Re: NGD 88' Strat Plus

Yeah Cosmic, really sweet axe man, ...and you're getting ANOTHER strat? LOL.

I don't think the nut is all that big of a deal, but it's not expensive to change out for bone or corian or graphite, whatever. I am chomping at the bit for my strat to arrive. Waiting is not my best practice, lol. I'm not good at waiting. I want my strat!! Ha Ha.

How are you liking those pickups? I have a friend who has a strat with those and they sound great, except the bridge pickup sounds a bit weak and sterile to us. I don't think they are the same ones you have, ...his has 3 different colors of the title "Lace Sensor" on the pup cover. And, they are newer.

I'm amazed at how nice your fretboard works. Guess I will be wanting some of that fret doctor stuff you mentioned. That looks awesome.
